To start this off, I'm not planning on buying a model right away. I already have one that I made (albeit it's pretty shitty) and that I'm using to improve myself.

My current plan is to focus on actually being entertaining and enjoyable to watch. However, at some point I'll need to upgrade to a good model. It's still far off, but I'd rather make plans now to prepare for it. Afterall, it doesn't matter how good a show is if there's no advertisements. Nor does it matter how good the advertisements are if the show is shit.

And as far as my autism can sort it, there's two main points when selecting a model:

1) Style - How well does the artist match the vibe I'm going with? Does their expertise match with what I do, for example someone who's very expressive would care more about their emotions being captured than how well they're moving their hands.

2) Clout - Like it or not, some artists have better clout than others. When choosing an artist I'd have to also understand their clout and position. Tying myself to a sinking ship is a bad call, or tying myself to someone I wouldn't agree with would make any further dealings hard and ruining any social credit I'd accrue with them.

So, all of this aside, how much would it generally cost? Obviously exact specifics are impossible, but what's the general range you guys have seen?

My range at minimum would be $5,000 but I could swing up to $15,000 if need be.

Tl:dr; How much would it cost for a high-ish end vtuber model?

for a top artist (like who draw the holos) that can also make for rigging: ~$1500.

then you need to get a rigger for ~$250

many artists and riggers are also vtubers so they can collab with you. I would track down who drew the holos and nijis and see an artist who is right for you. most vtubers post their artists and riggers unless they are dirty gooks.

OH! If it's just that much I can swing that right now if needed.

Thank you for that info anon. Still, I'm going to wait and improve myself before I start doing it. But I appreciate such a quick turn around.

That's fair. But I don't want to bother them / detract from more important things.

My question is more of a "general price range" and I feel more comfortable asking /vt/ as a whole rather than /asp/. If that makes sense at all. :)

first off /asp/ has a whole spread sheet on where to find commissions for models. After checking out some prices, here is what I would estimate

All without rigging and other junk

Shitty Model: 100 and down
Okayish Model: 300+
Good Model: 500+
Clout Model: 1000+

Rigging typically goes from 100-200+, depends on how good of a rigging you want. Really good rigging might be hitting the 500's.

2-3k is gonna be a rough estimate of a top tier model, rigging, and maybe some cool animations.

Its better go to asp

Thank you. I appreciate the quick stats econ anon. It seems like my minimum of $5k is more than enough to get what I need. Even if I need to float more due to what I want needing to be more unique, I think I can easily divert other investment funds to it. Yet again, thanks!

In response to >>46708501 I did check out /asp/ after posting >>46708731 . I wish I checked before hand because. Yet again, thanks for everyone in this thread. For both directing me and for giving me easy to digest answers. I appreciate it a lot!

Clout Model isn't $1k its $2500+
Clearly people don't know how models are. I've known Vtubers that failed having $1K models and no turnover with viewership.

I'm not going to deny that! As I said in my starting post; All advertisement with no show leads is useless. And no advertisements with a great show is also useless.

A good model will only be helpful if the streamer is good. That's why I want to focus on improving my deficiencies and then keep this fund build up in the background.

If I fail? No biggie. Money isn't lost. If I succeed? Great, money is there for me to continue on to the next step.

>>46714417
Yeah, I realized that after other Anons have said the same thing! Sorry!

Just don't end up like ZylpheRenuis, be smart like you said and surely you will do fine. Also don't forget to market yourself and your craft. Multi-Streaming can help with the SoraYuki Multi-RTMP OBS plugin if you want eyes on your work.

GOOD LUCK ANON

>> No.46722799

>>46721953
Oh! Thank you for the info about the SoraYuki plugin!!! I'll need to look at that in more detail tomorrow! :)

And I appreciate it. It's hard to fully type out what my plan is because I'm still in the nascent stages, so I'd rather refine as much as possible right now. But I promise I'm going to try my hardest not to be a complete dumbass.

For instance, following the advice of another anon a few days ago, I'm watching other more successful vtubers and seeing what the common threads are. Mostly I'm focusing on holostars because they're successful enough. By cross referencing all of them I'm hoping to avoid their individual failures, and then take the good common points and meld it with my style and nature. If that all makes sense! :)

Thank you Anon!!!! :)

Anon also think through what you want to be doing with that avatar. For some activities 3D model and mocap suit are in order. That one would cost you significantly more then the usual though.

>> No.46724080

>>46723489
That's a fair point Anon and I do very much appreciate you pointing that out.

As for my own personal taste and style of content, I don't see myself doing that. I prefer older, retro games. Being 3D would detract from the content I feel.

If I ever do decide to branch into 3D stuff, then I'd basically revert to what I'm doing now I suppose! Learn about the subject, balance finances accordingly, and then pull the trigger once everything is all prepared and accounted for!
