Not for gathering information on their tastes and personality, but more because as you write them into your story you feel more attached to/fond of them and thus end up checking out more of their streams. When I start writing a new chuuba into my story, I naturally become a bit more involved with their content. The more I write, I do tend to a get a little more attached in a sense. It's fun to say the least.
