I finished rewatching through V最協 2. Some general thoughts: We really didn't know how good we had it. Apex definitely peaked in 2021, and this tourney was a great way to start it off. Olympus is really open, but people made it work. Depending on the ring there were definitely more deaths in the middle-game compared to the sweatiest World's Edge rings, but there were some late rings with lots of teams. Lots of Gib, Wraith, Horizon. Some Caustic (notably Leona) and Crypto (notably Ib). I also definitely don't remember Astel being on Gib. It was nice to see the original Olympus again. Icarus wasn't there yet, and it was a transit point marked with the house from the famous Crylix clip. Those were the days. Funny that Hal and Crylix are both signed to TSM now.

Overall, there was a lot more team balance compared to Pakael vs Gorilla of 1 although JMY with Qu/Dtto and Leona was definitely super strong and NsN as well. Plus, BIG STAR's kill record of 19 in Game 1 (only surpassed by ATM's 21 last year), which sadly did not get replicated (leading to Reid crykino). I feel like Qu was super consistent when you look at the scoreline but each game that they did well in hung on a knife's edge. Still, that's the best way to prove yourself and she certainly showed that she's possibly the best female V Apex player.

Match 1
Ending in the back houses past Gardens, north of where Lifeline's Clinic is now. Sexo Miyako wins with calm rotation and IGL to win it all, capped by a classic wraith Q to win by ring damage. There was so much going on in rings 5 and 6 with Gib, Horizon, and Leona's Caustic shitting up the final ring. Surprisingly many teams managed to cross nearly open fields without completely getting eviscerated, in part due to the strong Wraith portal.

Match 2
JMY win next to the tunnel between Estates and Hydroponics. In the final ring they basically won by default, having the superior position and being only one of two trios, the other being NsN (who were very exposed to the other teams). But the process to get there was a lot of really great edge gameplay. It was not clean Apex by any means though, but they manage to take fights and stave off battles long enough to reset, and continue the process. The Caustic was 100% key in this match and later ones. Reid found a really funny rat spot after NoseMet were downed quickly, and survived a decent while due to that. Qpi found a god rat spot in final ring, and managed to eke out 2nd somehow despite an early down on Gundou and being separated from HSKW.

Match 3
Pakael win in Power Grid near the two bridges and empty space. Kanae survived as a duo, then solo for longer than felt possible, especially considering how a team could have easily bullied him. NsN secured a solid position in the final zone by winning a pivotal fight against BIG STAR despite Nose getting a really good arc star as entry. This set them up on the lower area next to one of the bridges, while Qpi and co. managed to secure the opposite side. Pakael took high ground with a portal and so they were less molested while everyone fought below.

Match 4
NsN win next to Carrier. They basically had a really good starting spot and just capitalized. This final ring was only 3. Again JMY took a lot of fights, and though Qu/Dtto was the Kill Leader by the end, it wasn't what I would call fully clean. NsN definitely had the best spot in the final ring, and a numbers advantage at that point.

Match 5
Bonsai Plaza ending. Kuzuha/AQF ints to JMY in a most retarded fashion, and then JMY manage to clean up Pakael who whiffs too many wingman shots. If you thought they are scams you should watch this one. (They have gotten smarter since then.) Again, the Caustic was key. Towa/Matsuri/Sumire int to NsN with some great Mastiff play by Putecchi but also some big ??? decisionmaking for TMS. Also, Hoshikawa jumping off the map never gets old.

Kanae/Odanobu Deep Kiss won this one. JMY had a lot of surviving with unclean Apex, but this time it was too much since they didn't really clean up any fights so much as reset and then they had to survive ring 4 somehow. Up the biggest fucking hill in the game (until Storm Point), with walls and shit. BIG STAR spent too long in this retarded drawn-out edge fight as well, and this played a role in not getting a good position in ring and getting destroyed.

Funnily, Kanae was getting caught up in this too but fucking Fubuki baited them and they chased her and Roboco going up the other side of the hill, which gave them really good angles on everyone else walking up. Then they cleared Gori-san from the high ground in ring 6 using Horizon to great effect to minimize damage at the very end. It was a pretty easy wipe on Astel from there.

The Virtual Apex scene was completely different back then. The level of competition was definitely lower when half of VSPO doesn't exist yet and we have some Animare and weaker Hololive girls filling for teams as deadweights instead.

Broken Moon isn't that great due to being quite new, the zipline shit, and viewers being less familiar. KC is KC. Realistically it has to be WE, Olympus, or Storm Point. Sniping in apex is so weird. Sometimes she hits things I thought would have missed sometimes shoots that thought would be 100%hit miss. Also she's playing with different sniper/marksman and is still quite consistent.

Qpi is really not performing in fights at all. Most fights they win have Runa doing almost all of the damage. If the igling is putting too much pressure on her she needs to offload some of the workload. Also her mental is awful. In Valo I noticed she seemed to give up on rounds where its possible to clutch, and never seemed to think about how to win when outnumbered. I really did not expect the same issues to show up in apex.
