I've been tempted to write a Hololive based VN (yes, I know multiple other people have expressed interest in it too). My big issue is that I'd have no idea how to approach the cast. There isn't one specific gen I completely know. I'm only very familiar with random, but specific members. Would it still be worth doing if the cast selection is seemingly random?

Obviously a highschool is the best place for it, with all of your relevant chuubas in a class but also an office or an afterparty could work.
Whatever the chuubas are, just try to stablish strong connections to play them off. Say you only like Polka from nepolabo and Subaru from Gen2, try and make a believable scenario on why they would talk/interact.

Anon just pick the cast of chuubas based on what you want to write. It's your VN after all, besides the selection of cast based off of what the author likes is the basis of like 95% of our series fics. Even if you're making it for the thread it's still going to be a project you're going to spend a lot of time on, so it's better that you just pick the chuubas you want to write about rather than any gen or group that fits together. Besides you could probably write similarities in the plot later to 'justify' the seemingly random vtubers you picked.

If you haven't already, watch some streams or clips of her in collabs. Risu should be pretty reasonable to nail down. She focuses on articulating her exact meaning a bit, but also is a bit of a goofball. She's also someone who likes to play to the person she's conversing with, finding just the right ways to catch them off guard somehow for a laugh.

Well, I can't give you any specific advice, but I would recommend not trying too hard to make every text blurb Risu-y. Just write what you want her to say normally and then add in some of her quirkiness/jokes where it seems natural. If you force it too hard it will be cringe.
