Right now I have Noise Suppression, Compressor, Expander, and Limiter set at their defaults in OBS. my microphone is an AT2020 USB. I have my mic about 6-8 in from my mouth when streaming.

Could anyone please give me a few pointers on tuning the filters, if i shouldn't be using OBS' default filters, etc. I do have Reaper/Audition, if any of those would be better. Thanks in advance!

If there's one thing that's been good recently despite all the weird schizoposting and slight crabs, it's that more and more people have been open about posting here for feedback and even posting their links. The difference between the last month and before then has been crazy.

I didn't find out they were shit. I immediately played them back and realized I either sounded spastic (when somebody actually showed up to chat in the middle of a bout of technical issues for one) or my audio was just crap the whole time or my tracking was intolerably fucked. I kept my first despite it being mostly static just because it was my first, and a couple others that sounded less shit. I've streamed less than 20 times for less than 30 hours so far and I think maybe 10 of those are preserved.
But yeah, I guess my old shit sound recording helps me cope with still using a shit mic if only because I have better settings and an easier way to talk into it now.

If you know you struggle with stuttering, practice reading before actually streaming (if you plan on doing that for your content). Good tone tho. There's a lot of wet sounds coming from your mouth so point the mic at the corner of your mouth instead of speaking directly into it and make sure you're hydrated.

Voice sounds nice and clear. Ideally it could be a bit more animated, but given what you were reading it's actually not very monotone. Practicing reading things out loud does actually make you much better at reading out loud. It's very normal to stumble a bit when you start.

I'm a diagnosed schizoid personality disorder and streaming is pretty much the ideal form of personal interaction for me. When I stream I normally have a noise gate on which helps with the noises. I've been doing enunciation work all day (tongue twisters with a pencil between my teeth to help as well.
