I much prefer the first song, but both of these videos are leagues above what she is typically posting, so it's a step in the right direction. Seriously, her cover of Identity is probably the worst I've ever heard. I'm not going to go through her whole channel, but I'm pretty sure these may also be the first two videos she has ever uploaded in 1080p. She's uploaded gaming clips that are at like 10 fps. Who is the audience for this shit? Also, does she know that her model filters basically everyone? I realize that a nice model doesn't come cheap, but this is aesthetically displeasing, and I'd honestly prefer a PNG. This isn't the place to learn to sing, but if you are looking for advice to maximize your chance to go viral, there's a couple of success stories you can use. Serifina's Golden Hour, and slightly less so Unholy, cover breaking into the general weeb ecosphere and catapulting her to having an order of magnitude more subs then the rest of her company combined is potentially repeatable. You need to cover a fairly recent, Western song that's famous on Tiktok or is otherwise going viral, do it very well, and have enough of a fanbase to get the initial ball rolling on the algorithm so it doesn't die in it's infancy. You can also see the success of this in a lesser form on Sugarock's dance cover of Chiki Chiki Dan Dan. At this point, you need to capitalize on this by streaming enough to keep the tourists.

The other, less volatile route, is to debut like normal, and make sure you have at least one singing stream the same time, same day every week. Having the audience know you'll be singing at a certain time almost every week, like a TV broadcast, does wonders for helping to retain your audience. Do the basics like having a setlist and such, shill yourself without being too obvious, do your networking reps with other smalltime vsingers even if it's just appearing in chat, and build your audience that way. Notable successes like this would be HACHI and Yoshika, as well as Rene to an extent with her Friday singing streams, Watame with her WNFs or smaller chuubas like 88nia or Cocotsuki. You don't have to be on point every time with every song, people who show up to karaokes are much more likely to be turned off by you not having fun then some scuff as long as you don't let it ruin the mood, especially if you have a couple of songs that you can nail in every set. At that point, it's just grinding it out, letting your talent take you as far as you can, and waiting and hoping for a clip of you singing to go viral, though putting out produced music, either covers or originals while you're grinding can be a major benefit, since covers have a chance of going viral and original music helps to keep you in the mind of tourists once you finally catch your break.

The one problem with covering anime FotMs is that you're gonna have a lot of competition because Japanese people will do that as well, and in large numbers. Western songs typically aren't touched, which means they're free real estate. However, you are going to attract an audience based on the covers you put out, so if you hate a song, don't touch it since people will ask you to sing it every stream for a long time, especially if you do it well. As to the video, you don't even need to put in that much work. If you have your avatar, you can just record yourself singing it and slap on a filter + background, which is helpful for helping to build your visual brand over a generic city shot. As to your questions, I'm too much of a ojisan who has spent over a decade on 4chan to use zoomer social media like Tiktok, so I can't tell you how you find things, but I'm sure someone keeps track of those things and posts them to the internet. The second is actually a good question, and they're right that studio covers are going to get claimed, especially if you're doing trendy Western songs and not obscure stuff. However, the only thing that gets claimed is ad revenue, whereas Superchats and memberships are still all yours, so just think of a cover video as a self advertisement that's there to draw people to your streams where they can give you money directly. Having a Paetron is one solution, but I would personally probably just have a Streamlabs that I phase out in favor of superchats once I get monetized as a channel and then open membership when that unlocks as well. Getting people to leave the website and join the Paetron is a very low success rate thing, but depending on how long it will take you to get memberships, as that's dependent on viewership and not just hours streamed, it can be an okay thing to do as an intermediate thing like how a lot of small JP streamers have a fanbox.

Three things that I should mention, especially in the context of my pure numbers driven advice earlier;
1: Don't chase trends too hard, you want to avoid alienating your existing audience.
2: Don't expect immediate success, it's always going to take time unless you are blessed by the YT gods.
3: Make sure you're having fun with it, since not only can the audience tell when you're not which ruins the mood, but tying back to the previous point, if you are doing what you have fun doing, it's going to be much less painful waiting for success when/if it comes.

If you come here when it's JP prime time you'll see endless link dumps of karaokes and covers that nobody really gives a shit about. Also, many people here probably have an ever-expanding backlog of "good enough" singers that they'll one day (aka never) get around to properly listening to. So, be careful of just imitating what seems to work otherwise you might end up as generic singing chuuba #539690 in some playlist that never actually gets played.

In addition to the standard vsinger routine, look for genres, songs, vocal characteristics etc that are in demand but don't have a big supply. There's frequent jpop and idolshit streams but less western style rock for example. Check for popular and iconic songs that don't get covered.

Listen to the popular singers, whether it's due to their singing ability, their personality, or their entertainment value, and make notes of the reasons why someone would want to listen to you instead of the more established singers.

Yea, MiMi had a huge number of Tiktok subs from her dancing and was still in the double digit view range before she started streaming regularly, which is why I didn't advocate for making actual Tiktoks or Shorts, since those audiences don't engage with anything else. However, zoomers who're going beyond that to searching for the song they heard on those platforms is a reasonable audience to try and draw some fans from if you're okay with with that kind of audience, though I will admit the conversion rate from even a viral video to stream audience is pretty low, but if you're a consistent 3view with reasonable membership rates, that's a good start to career.

My condolences, and I'm only half joking. Making it is going to be a lot harder as a dude then a girl, especially as a v but 99% of the advice equally applies to fleshtuber since it's just Youtube meta. Male vsingers are extremely rarely successful, unless they've got instrumentation or song writing chops to back it up. There's some success stories, but the simple fact is people are more willing to throw money at a girl then a guy, and you will have to walk the line between appealing to the fujos who're into male vtubers and the bro audience, which is a difficult tightwalk, or choose one to appeal to and lose half of your already small potential viewership.

I think classic 2000s skatepark core is a great thing for karaoke, but probably not gonna do well as a cover.
