The future is hard to predict. YT may be surpassed by other mediums, like METAs with AI. HoloEarth may attract more viewership for the idols. Doubt vtubing has peaked in the West; just that there is more competition than ever. The ceiling will always remain high, and weeb culture is here to stay. Expanding to other cultures is inevitable. Manga keeps expanding and it is part of the new generation's entertainment, while traditional comics are losing shelf space. Doesn't help that political correctness is being injected into the latter's IP.

A Gura killer would have to slow boil to the top by consistently producing wacky ideas and saying evocative things that polarize people into either undyingly loving her or vehemently hating her. What with normies so hyperfocused on lolis lately, Shondo is actually in a pretty good position to execute this kind of "outrage marketing", but she'll have to stay above the bullshit like Gura does and accept being hated by a large cohort of the internet without trying to defend herself or get them to accept her. No one is beating that 4 million soon, if ever, but that doesn't mean someone can't surpass Gura where it truly matters which ain't subs.

Gura's fucking done after Hololive. There's no way I could ever see her returning to the public eye once she has left Hololive.
She's achieved all she ever wanted, as well as becoming the most popular Vtuber in the world.
She barely streams anymore, probably because of burnout, but also suffering from success.
The only thing I could maybe see her doing is becoming a singer, but even that is unlikely I think.
