Hey re-works are progress too! If that's something she talked about in a recent stream, you can work around it, or better yet, let it play into your story. If she thinks romance is cringe at first, you can progress your story about those walls slowly breaking down, or if it's part of that avenue you're talking about, take a different approach to romance. I get how you feel though. I only learned recently that Flare HATES bows. So, I adapted and planned out a cool solution that's more in line with her that will come later. It'll be pretty badass too.

My Ninisanni Scenario Review - Part 1: The game

To start the review I'll say I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend it to all other anons. I have acquired all the achievements and probably seen 99+% of the dialogue. I knew next to nothing about NijiEN going in, but now I'm on the verge of being a full blown Pomudachi and have dabbled in a handful of the other girls' streams. There are a lot of NijiEN specific references, but I didn't find them off putting. Made me like the game more when I did some clip watching.

The dialogue was overall fun and enjoyabe and flowed really well. Unlike some of the other Anon's, I didn't feel the humor was too much or distracting since this was clearly more comedy than eroge and the audience is obviously exclusively /here/ so I won't fault the based references. However, there were a couple times where jokes during the actual sex scenes went too off topic, but like 90% of the time you struck the balance. I definitely laughed out loud a few times. It was also quite cute how much of your own personal autism comes through, definitely something that could only be made by a one man team. And I have to give you props on spelling and grammar. I only noticed maybe 15 mistakes across the entire thing, which is insane considering that that's less than the average 4k word story posted here.

If I'm to speak to weaknesses, it would be in the pacing and the repetitive forumla of the endings. The first half of the game when you're slutting around is paced great, but for many of the girls, their individual routes move very quickly and you know the beats of all once you've finished one route. I admire your dedication to giving each girl 2 sex scenes, but you spaced them out minutes apart which diminishes the impact. I understand that this was already a huge project with a big cast, but not getting more in the individual routes is a bummer. It might have been wiser to go with less girls but more time with each. And I have to ask, were the Ethyria girls intended to be in originally? They seem a bit disconnected from the rest of the story. Also it's funny how many dude tubers only appear once. Going back to the sex scenes, a lot of repitions - how tight she is, you're a virgin?, etc... Some were quite fun, creative, and erotic, but all were definitely too short to wank to.

In a follow up post I'm going to rank the girls and talk about their characters, but here I want to focus on the best character - Anon! Anon hard carries this story. His sigma male mindset sets him apart from most other VN MC's I've encountered. Instead of being autistic for the purpose of padding the run time, Anon's autism serves to make him an interesting character with moments of absolute Chaddery. He definitely feels like a partial author insert, but those eccentricities make me like him more, so I guess I'm hitting on you VNanon. MC's who don't hate themselves and aren't afraid of girls are a blessing.

Continuing along this train, I very much enjoyed the world this story takes place in. None of the strict social norms and puritan bullshit we expect from a normal Japan based story. People drink at school, everyone is dangerously horny, and no one seems to care about the law. A refreshing setting that I think serves this off-beat story very well.

I'll write a little now about the gameplay/tech stuff, but I'm not much of a gamer let alone a VN player so idk. First up, the graphics. The character models look good and the backgrounds often provide something interesting. BUT, what I must mention is how insanely charming your animations are. They might be limited, but they brought a lot of personality to the scenes. Secondly, please include a control page for retards like me who don't think to press control for dialogue skip and end up taking a bunch of screenshots and turning on automatic voice. Labelling things more clearly on the menus would also be nice. Also some of the font choices are questionable, especially the acievement page. But overall nothing broke and it didn't crash, so color me impressed.

To close out this part, shill this shit everywhere VNanon. Well, everywhere on /vt/ and nowhere else. It's simply too based for any other audience and they might try to murder you.

Part 2: The girls

I had heard her name, but basically didn't know she existed before playing. Kind of brushed her off most of my play time because I didn't like her design. But when I actually read what she was saying and went along with her route, it turned out she was very based and cute. Anon's visit to her house has some very funny moments and I loved the creative epilogue. Nothing bad to say about this one.

Nice thing about VNs is the scripting, staging, and playtesting forces you to replay it over and over which does wonders for editing in not just spelling, but dialogue flow.

Very true. The pacing is quite wonky, because I went in with a certain design philosophy of "debuting" the girls long before you have to choose, so as to introduce people who aren't familiar with NijiEN to the merits of each girl.
This resulted in a long common route, but short individual routes.
Ideally, I would've added an extra scene to each individual route, and another "collab" scene for each girl in the common route. But that would double the amount of writing, and honestly, I was pretty out of ideas for settings and scenes.
Ultimately, I decided to not bloat the VN with subpar scenes, as I'm pretty happy with the ones I had.

Nope. While watching girl's streams to collect info on their cadence, I took a gander at Nina's and was incredibly surprised at how comfy. She started to grow on me and I decided she HAD to go in, and if I had to add every other member of Ethyria to do so, so be it.

To expand on this, each wave had similar positions. Lazulight were major, key characters to the narrative and in Anon's life. Obsydia were the conventional capture target classmates. Ethyria filled in the rest of the gaps, while also adopting different stereotypical roles (nurse, disciplinary rep, kouhai, yandere).

This is my first VN I've used them so heavily, but now that I have I can't go back. It's crazy how more VN creators don't take advantage of the medium this way as I believe it adds charm and dynamism.

NTA but this is making me think of the rest of the scrapper crew being shiraken reincarnated after they lost and got killed in the battle that mangled Suisei's Mecha. Now destiny has reunited them to start the quest to find the wrecks of their mechs and avenge their past.

Suisei was heading for a desolate planet that had a secret research base on it. In the universe I've kinda built piloting a mech is incredibly mentally taxing, requiring a neural link that essentially requires pilots to have to retire after a few years or risk permanent brain damage, as well as having an inherent flaw that causes the pilots to literally be knocked unconscious and concussed if they push the mechs too hard.

That has an even higher turnover rate than normal pilots and the main rival would actually be Fumi who's the most recent pilot of your mech.

They don't know where the research base actually is on the planet is a massive battle will break out as Suisei and (You) are at ground zero for everything to blow up after she activates a distress beacon to summon her side, The Second Earth Republic, to the planet. Then it'd be a hunt for the research base while everyone descends on the planet and a blockade prevents people from just leaving the system.

Scripting is brutal. It took way longer to put into renpy than it did to write.
The nice part though is when it comes together, it all looks really good. Renpy is a lot more visual than Twine, and Twine still comes with the added time consuming downsides of still having to write branching paths (if anything, you write more).
That said, Twine is hosted online, which is a solid plus, because there's for more people willing to click a link out of passing interest, as opposed to downloading a game, extracting, and booting it up.

Renpy is very light on the coding. I have virtually no experience as well. The most you'll have to do is 'if statements'.
Looking over a completed project is probably too deep of waters to jump into at first. I'd recommend simply downloading Renpy.
There's a visual novel called Tutorial that comes preinstalled that teaches you in a very simple and friendly way the basics of the program (and the teacher is cute too!).
There's also a preinstalled visual novel called The Question that lays out the script in a very easy to read fashion. Poking and prodding The Question's script can be useful too.

I don't want to overwhelm you, bu as for looking at the code, a program called Editra gives thing colors for better visual clarity.

There's several ways. One is love levels by choosing options the girls like. Another is flags. If that flag is raised, it can block you from a route or let you pass.
Since I'm a bastard, I used both, and made it so some girls have flags, and others don't, some have high love levels, others have low ones.
I'd advise just playing and trying different options. See what the girls like and what makes them uncomfortable.
Generally speaking, if you can get their LINEs, you're pretty well set up. The collab scenes are where flags can fuck you up.

Eventually you yield to her and have follow every one of her whims if you want to keep your dream.

Alright, I played through my first route. Here are my thoughts:

Please turn down the filter on the main menu. It's a cool screen but the filter being cranked all the way up kinda of makes it look ugly.

I love the little animations you did and they add to the charm of the VN. My favorite one so far has got be Finana's getting the pudding. The way you used the instrumental versions as BGM was very nice and fitting. They are bops fr fr no cap.
I really like what you did with the girls. I already liked them all so maybe I'm biased but you even sold me on the one I'm least interested in (Petra). And I can't decide whether you did Finana dirty or if she's spot-on. Selen also wasn't flanderized as much as I expected she'd be.

People really seem to like her, so I'll call it a win. I did notice in playtesting that she doesn't get a lot of "wins" though, she's always being portrayed like a baka. Still, she's one of the funniest characters in the game, and I don't think she would personally mind.
