Do you guys have any ideas for a hololive turn based rpg specifically gameplay mechanics and archetypes that would suit each member? For example I was thinking Watame would have
>low physical damage
>moderate magical damage >more squishy but excels at using songs that can buff other party members and debuff enemies
Each member could also have some sort of unique ability aswell such as Watame having a passive that gives her a chance to respawn if downed mid battle. An ultimate cinematic attack that targets all enemies on screen with a stampede of watamelons.
I’m also a fan of using something similar to the potential system from valkyria chronicles for example which could have a variety of unique buff and debuff effects depending on the situation such as Watame could have a low chance to start crying and miss a turn or Matsuri has a high chance to get charmed by young enemies/creatures for example. The debuff effects could change into buff effects eventually while playing if you get a characters affinity up enough and do their unique side mission.

First thing that came to mind: too many party members. So you either do a Suikoden type of RPG where there are many characters but most of them don't matter, or you focus on a small group of holomem with the others being NPC or even antagonists

Rogue-lite turn-based tactics. A squad of 5~ holos you pick at the start. Advanced Wars style combat. They could fight random alien invaders or some shit. Holos has starting abilities; you can upgrade them between missions, buy items, learn new skills, etc. Short runs, 5~ missions, around 30~ minutes to finish. Insane replayability with all kinds of team combos to try, including full random.

That'd be nice but even in the FE games where you make your own self insert character there's still a handful of characters that the story revolves around (Chrom/Lucina, the leaders of each house in 3H, your siblings in Fates) with everyone else having varying levels of involvement in the main story
Don't get me wrong, this is probably the best format for an RPG if you want to have every member in your party but you still need to pick the "protagonists" that the main story would revolve around

There isnt 50 sub stats and equipment that muddy up the fights
Healing is mostly restricted to items
Elemental weaknesses are clear cut
Turns dont take 30 years because 10 different characters have to make their move
There is no damage sponge bosses most fights are decided within 3 hits
Every monster has no more than 4 moves that are known and can be accurately guessed before the first turn
Pokemon excels in its simplicity unlike that puddle deep jrpg trash.

>any ideas for a hololive turn based rpg
alot of freedom exploration wise like SaGa, octopath and black souls but you can check in world map where you need to go to advance the story to avoid confusion
>gameplay mechanics
usual normal turn based i guess? with special/ex gauge bar up to 3 bars, some stronger/strong niche skill also uses said bar instead of just mp
>archetypes that would suit each member
there are too many members, lets just say you going to make watame as mc with holos she usually collabs with and the rest of holos as npcs+bosses
watame is the jack of trades type, you can give her some silly things like roadkilling everyone with her uber bike
fubuki is the warrior/samurai type based from holoearth and cure
flare can go either mage or ranger build, idk much about her outside of fanarts and being a dmcfag
botan uses machineguns, snipers (needs to spend a turn to actually shoot) and Use mechanic simillar to FF thief class so she can toss nade and shit
haachama healer and buffs in 1 form, damage and debuff while also need to pay with HP in another
each character has 4-5 unique skill and X ammount of weapon skill depending on what they equip

this is a good idea

I dont think every holo needs to be a playable character.
Kaela for example could be the weapon shop npc. Choco handles the clinic which works like a DQ church. Subaru handles the INN and there's a cooking sidequest in the inn's kitchen involving Aki and Chammers. AZKi is the inn's songstress and has some sidequest to introduce mechanics to players.
Fubuki, Mio, Ayame and Iroha are dlc sidequest in THE EASTERN LANDS about repairing the barrier to stop Anya from becoming japanese. All 5 unlocked after completion.
Okayu and Korone are recurring incompetent baddies, that the party befriends after they figure out they just want food. Luna is part of the party in the beginning but gets kidnapped (yes like in lufia), to figure out her connection to the Moon.
Aqua works in countess Mel's castle as a gamer maid (recruitable if you solve her sidequest of cleaning up the castle). Noel also works there as a guard, barring entry to the castle until you recruit flare and have her as the leading character and talk to Noel.
Antagonist of the game is Pekora who is trying to find a way to go to the moon by using a volatile spell to explode a part of holoearth off and catapult herself over to the moon. Earthquakes in the testing phase alert the initial party to investigate.
Pekora is reluctantly aided by Marine who becomes a recruitable partymember if you defeat her with aqua in the party.
La+ tries to impede your progress and help Pekora, but Pekora doesn't even know she exists.
Miko (healer) is part of the Party from the start, along with Shion (mage), Polka (thief) and Sora as the hero.
Watame is recruitable early on as a bard type. Kanata as a monk type.
Nene is too storonk so she is only obtainable later on as a summon, usable once per fight, empties mp bar fully. Nene dai bakushou plays during the summon, ends with "restroom time".
Towa and Botan sidequest involving helping either in a shooting competition. Unocks one first, the other can be unlocked later. Towa provides heals and buffs while having a ranged attack, Botan is a pure gunner type.
Lamy is a questgiver, which introduces the pure springs to the player, which serve as save points, heal spots and warps later on after you find lamy's secret ingredient. She can be found in the inn at the bar.
Lui can be recruited after the first time you defeat La+. She hangs around town and keeps mentioning finding yamada.
Koyori will sell potions. Can you handle her strongest potions?
Risu is a questgiver and asks you to find nuts (collectible, found throughout the whole world)
Iofi needs help finding colors for her painting project, rewards you with an out of combat ability to open sealed paths, by painting on them with a magic brush.
Ollie is the boss of the graveyard area.
Reine can be summoned after you find a feather of hers to fly you over certain obstacles or as a combat summon.
Kobo is every annoying child in the town
Chloe is the water summon, that can be used in combat or the overworld to cross streams of water or the sea (to get to the EASTERN LANDS for example)
I know nothing about Zeta so no idea what to do with her.
Moona is the final boss, the moon presence who orchestrated everything and turned pekora into the villain. Pekora is recruitable after you defeat and spare her, otherwise the moon presence takes over your mind and it's game over.
Rushia is a secret boss and unlockable character in a difficult sidedungeon.
Coco is a super hard, secret bossfight after you finish the game.
Matsuri is a joke character that just stands in front of an occupied bathroom saying, that she has been holding it in for days.

No en, fuck em.

Gonna put in some more details on how I'd envision this RPG would go. It's a pity I don't have any other skills besides writing up drafts, because I'd make it if I could:
>Set in an alternate reality where most Holomembers don't know each other beyond certain established groups.
>Due to this, Holomembers personalities will be similiar, but different from the originals. I'd be aiming to fit them into a M&L-sequel RPG. I do want them to feel like they are Hololive members fans know and love however by retaining most of their personalities and using references where they'd fit, but they'd be altered enough so they can flexibly take the roles needed to be filled in an RPG. Some Holomembers would need to be more jerkish or standoffish compared to their real life counterparts due to this.
>Pekora and Miko initially start out in Pekoland.
>You can change the lead and back unit as you please, just like in the original Mario & Luigi.
>One of their field actions (and thus battle commands for single and combo skills) will be the most infamous items associated with them; TNT for Pekora and a bucket full of lava for Miko.
The game's version of Bros. Attacks would feel slapstick if pulled off wrong, but look stunning if successfully pulled off. I also think it would be funny if the Advanced versions weren't actually "Advanced" so much as the user of the move changing things up to mess with their partner for a funnier finish that somehow ends up achieving a different but no less effective outcome. Plus having it so that for at least one of their attacks, it's the other one that devises the deviation to mess with the one who initiates the standard move.
>The standard enemies would be the fan mascots/stand-ins, with alternate variations as appropriate. The fan mascots will also account for the numerous generic NPCs that populate towns and other places.
>Akai Haato would be a major ally who due to shenanigans ends up as the final boss in the form of Haachama.
>Marine will be the Popple/Jr. Troopa of the game; a recurring boss and independent antagonist, usually fought with another Holomember. She charms and/or coerces the Holomembers to fight with her, and one or two may be around long enough for an encore. In general, just like Popple, defeating the non-Marine Holomember first would cause Marine to flee and make you lose out on her drops. The third to last fight would have Haato, who is encoring for a second bout; this battle would set up the road to how Haachama ends up the final boss. In the initial drafts, I also wanted the last boss fight against Marine to be a dual fight against her and Rushia in a reference to how the two of them were frequently paired up, but Rushia's termination makes me unsure if I'd keep that in. Marine would be one of the few Holomembers to get an exclusive boss theme to indicate her status as a recurring boss.

gonna give a shot on how the jps play as characters, i'll start:

general rules
>some character can have divergent 'evolutions' that give them differing playstyles
>player can swap between those evolutions on a specific place (or later on, get an item that could freely change between those whenever)

sora
>healing-based buffer. may join as guest member at certain points, but only truly joins the party at endgame. purposefully overpowered, the kind that basically trivializes the final boss (and very important to superbosses)
rbc
>'android' unit similar to etrian odyssey's yggdroids. starts with higher general stats and has bigger stat caps than most other units, but cannot recover with usual healing items. instead comes a rechargeable battery/repair kit that requires materials to replenish
miko
>specializes in magic, mainly fire/lava based spells and summons. starts off unremarkable but will grow into a powerhouse later. can have 2 different evolutions: one (based off her 'shrine maiden') gives her additional support abilities, other (based off her 'demon lord') gives her more offensive power but at the cost of her health
suisei
>melee dps and offensive buffer. like miko she starts off average, but later became one of the strongest units ingame. may need to fight her as a boss at some point before unlocking her. also has evolutions; an 'idol' form that turns her into the best offensive buffer ingame, or a 'psychopath' form which makes her deal absurdly high dps but becomes selfish
azki
>temporary guest party member, but unlike sora, she never really join the party permanently. has the typical bard skillset, but her buffs doesn't overlap with others
mel
>specializes in lifesteal and debuffs. one of the units that people only really use if they like her, since she's optional and likely to be outclassed by other units later on
fubuki
>melee dps/dodge tank with ice-based skills. fastest unit ingame. has 2 evolutions: 'king' mode (can give others speed/evasion buffs and grants additional buffs based on evasion/dodges) and kurokami mode (more offensive and self-sufficient buffs). both forms are strong and viable until postgame
haato/haachama
>is unique that she can switch between forms on battles. haato is a tank whose action has a chance to turn her into haachama, a powerful dps-debuffer hybrid that has a chance to act randomly. haachama reverts after certain time has passed, but some skills can be used to extend the duration or immediately change between forms
matsuri
>jack-of-all-trades unit(buff/debuff/attack). like mel she isn't exactly the strongest unit, but has a 'god' skill that turns her into powerful and invulnerable unit for a few turns but after that she's removed from the battle
aki
>tanky healer. actually decent statline, but people considered her as the 'worst' tank due to being unlocked quite late and her unlock mission is pretty roundabout (but not as bad as ayame)
aqua
>dps. giga buffed when solo, but becomes more susceptible to debuffs when there's party members instead, with few characters being the exception to the rule (marine, shion, sora, fubuki, okayu, noel, towa)
shion
>magic dps and debuffer. her debuffs usually also increases the enemies' stats, but still crippling enough if it lands
choco
>healer and charm debuffer. optional character, and like mel, she kind of suffers in that other units can potentially do things better than her, except for her charm which can be a powerful niche when needed
ayame
>melee dps. glass cannon, hits really hard but has low defenses and is very susceptible to debuffs. notorious for being extremely hard to obtain, to the point people wonder if she is a secret character
subaru
>melee dps. unlocked after finishing certain quests for her. overall a solid unit with good attack and speed and respectable defenses, but doesn't really provide much in terms of utility

mio
>magic user with skills themed on tarot divination. can also summon hatotaurus, albeit at a huge cost. the safe pick kind of unit, good and versatile support overall
okayu
>debuffer/dodge tank hybrid, but unlike other dodge units she can take a few hits due to having a high health. unlocked together with korone
korone
>tank which gets stronger as time passes. lower attack and defense than noel, but is much faster. overall serves her purpose and is generally considered the best general tank. unlocked together with okayu
pekora
>trickster-type unit with debuffs and traps. needs to be defeated to be unlocked. has a very high aggro but the highest dodge rate ingame (besides fubuki with buffs), so she can be turned into a dodge tank
noel
>the definitive tank unit. extremely durable with pretty high attack, but slow as molasses and cannot use magic. can be unlocked early if you have flare in the party
flare
>magic ranged dps. automatically joins midgame, but can actually be unlocked earlier if you finish a certain questline. unlocking her gives access to other characters. like subaru, she is decent unit to have, albeit lacking in utility
marine
>low speed and defensive stats, mediocre hp and average attack, but has powerful and versatile skills to back up her lacking stats. people will constantly argue if she is good or bad as an unit because of that
kanata
>healer-defensive buffer hybrid with high strength, so she's also viable as physical dps (albeit a tad on the slow side) or tank. has a skill where she gets stat buffs everytime she reaches low health or dies. has 2 evolutions: one turns her into healer-defensive buffer and other turns her into offensive unit, with the former being based off her 'nurse' form while the latter being based off her 'fallen angel' form
watame
>healer, greatest amount of healing besides sora and more overspecialized than her. has a janken skill that can instantly knock-out non-immune opponents. can revive herself automatically at non-boss battles
towa
>ranged dps, but has an unique defense skill which gives shield buff to team similar to apex's gibraltar. surprisingly has a good amount of dodge, but not reliable enough to be a dodge tank (on top of her low health)
luna
>the 'joke' character. unlike marine, she only has 1 strong skill, which allows her to summon extremely powerful lunaitos, but she can only perform it once per battle, uses up all of her magic, and is unlocked only when her level is maxed

>ice/water magic user and debuffer. can be unlocked earlier through a questline, but nepolabo joins automatically at a certain point. the hardest-hitting out of all the mages (unless against ice/water-resistant enemies) but also the slowest (shion is the fastest, followed by flare)
nene
>melee dps that's the closest thing the game has to a brawler character. strong attack with high health and respectable speed. skills deal big damage but may give her status conditions or debuffs
polka
>another trickster type similar to pekora, except instead of dodge, she has health and defense. the most consistent debuffer. can be unlocked earlier if flare is already unlocked
botan
>ranged dps with critical focus. unlike other members of nepolabo that can be recruited manually earlier, she only joins as a group. top tier unit, considered almost a must have

laplus
>last boss of holox questline. gets buffs for each holox member present. has powerful debuffs and skills, but they cost a lot and she has low magic
lui
>critical focused dps, joins at a certain point of the holox questline. consistent unit all around as long as you optimize her critical-based skills
koyori
>'alchemist' unit, unlocked after defeating her in the holox questline. has a plethora of buff/debuff skills, and a more potent variants with downsides
chloe
>melee dps, unlocked after defeating her in the holox questline. slower than subaru/nene but also hits harder. has skills that has a chance to fail, and if she fails she reattempts the skill with a stronger effect
iroha
>melee dps, joins at the start of holox questline. more or less another subaru, good offensive unit but nothing really remarkable in particular
