These images show the chubas comforting these folks, hanging out with them, talking to them. In real life. That is the dream of any "parasocial" fan, whether they admit to it or not.

Now if last year's anything to go by, "parasocial fans" are apparently pathetic, and frowned upon. Even some chubas and part of Holo management thought so. But now Cover is peddling these images. desu the biggest reason I watch vtubers is because the centralized corpo infrastructure lets them collab, impromptu join each other's chats, and other cooperative stuff that you really don't get from indie channels or fleshtubers on twitch. We're all overthinking it, they're just cute ads. But there's a grain of truth to it. For example I work 12 hour shifts and that Korone ad basically is exactly what is going on. Once you get older and settle into the inevitable soul crushing dullness of work sleep work to eat so you can work and sleep so you can work you'll start to appreciate the girls much, much more. I'd go so far as to say that the younger among you don't truly experience the full chuuba experience because you lack your own.

there are different types of parasocialism just like there are different types of relationships e.g. acquaintance, colleague, friend, best friend, lover etc. all streamers, not just vtubers, will be parasocial and fill some kind of emotional void within the viewer, they might be your friend, a sibling, a parent or a spouse each of these come with differing levels of emotional investment on both the part of the streamer and viewer and how 'good or bad' those are varies accordingly
