Zaion was the last indie at /lig/ status that will apply to NijiEN, I wager. Indies already know they can make it without the major corpos. As more tools become more accessible, it's only going to get easier for indies to stake their own claim if they're genuinely entertaining or offer anything unique.
So you have a bustling and thriving indie scene that less and less see the value of applying for a corpo, and a corpo that just publicly announced "this is how we run things; this is what you're in for if you're not going to play ball with us on our terms". If I'm an indie on an incline above 2-view status, I'm already considering pulling my application. If I have steady revenue, regardless of my actual view count, I pulled it before this incident and DEFINITELY am not putting it back in the pool now.
