Heavily subjective. I have seen it go many ways. People who did not think they wanted kids who feel like it was one of the best things to happen. People who wanted kids but then found it to be hellish and hate their lives for years until the kid stops being too much of a burden, though they still do their part as a parent and don't hate the kid themselves. Finally people who know themselves well enough that they're on the mark with regards to wanting or not wanting kids.
Typically the ones I've seen wanting kids and hating it when they have kids are the types that "love children" but never have to deal with them more than a few hours a day. The ones not wanting kids but feel it was life-changing for the better are types who never really experienced watching someone else grow, and they end up the type to really enjoy that experience.
All of this is purely anecdotal, though.

I'm the type who never wants kids, but also don't plan to ever have sex or even be in an intimate relationship. I don't like to be touched, and don't feel anyone should have to deal with my shitty personality constantly. Thankfully I enjoy being alone.

Parenting definitely isn't for everyone, but we're actively killing ourselves off because the only people who'd be fit for taking care of a child are being passed up while everyone else practices spawn killing and "casual sex" with often little to no commitment. It's not like the people who are actively against kids are even offering anything to humanity, its clear as day who the "usual" suspects are.
