There are thousands upon thousands of vtubers. They're always creating drama, and the current wave of it is nothing new. You also only see an uptick in it here because /vt/sisters aggregate the collective drama from all known vtubers and post it because it gives them (You)s. Nothing has changed. In fact, this is relatively tame. There were far more dramatic events that happened in the past (the Taiwan incident, the holocaust, Rushia's graduation, etc.)

It was THE YEAR, not only it was the absolute end of the whole "Kizuna Ai and the Four Heavenly Kings" era, but the two rising stars of Nijisanji and Hololive basically almost crashed and burned through the year as well.
2019 was tame in comparison despite a lot of drama with Eilene and Gamebu and what not, and 2021 was also intense, but nothing beats fucking 2020, it's sad to see the year slipping out of public memory
