I remember one of their runs last year didn’t even have a “pre order” period, it was immediate availability.
That would make sense if they’re producing smaller quantities, factories won’t even look at you if you don’t commit to at least a set amount so they have to bite the bullet, have the min quantity produced in advance and hope it sells out (which is not as guaranteed for ID as it is for JP).

It’s a risk-reward calculation and in her early days even JP girls got bit by it, with Aki getting stuck for quite some time with unsold merch she has already paid for production.
