How to grow as a Vtuber the easy way

Step 1: Find a game/category that you really love and can stream in for a (very) long time
Step 2: Base your vtuber around that category. This is important for branding purposes.
Step 3: Be as consistent in that category as much as possible.
Notice how I didn’t put the word entertaining anywhere in there. As long as you’re consistent you’ll get viewers. But you will always be overshadowed by streamers that are more entertaining than you are unless you improve. You can grow as a variety streamer but know that it will take 10x the amount of effort, especially if you play games that barely anybody knows about.

Honestly no idea atm. I stream already but I've been annoyed as hell trying to think of ideas for a model/brand update. My current model is extremely basic. It’s important to be as consistent as possible. Your model will give off expectations and it’s important to meet them. If you have a cutesy model and end up doing a black guy voice like that one Niji streamer you’ll have a tough time getting people to stick around (unless you’re part of nijisanji). It also helps if your model is themed around certain game genres or whatever if that’s what you plan to do.

That makes sense to me. Yeah my ideas are themed around some of the stuff I plan, and I keep things consistent to what the character is supposed to be, as far as I know. It's just that my ideas have kinda morphed into 3 characters I've gotta pick from, and they're all kind of basic at the moment. Honestly I might just be suffering from pre-debut syndrome again, eternally planning and not getting anything done. I think I'll just pick one idea to roll with and flesh it out.

This is a different question, but has anyone dealt with alternate outfits or alternate models etc? How do you go about it? I'm a bit attached to the other ideas I had, and they match somewhat thematically/lore-wise, so I was thinking of repurposing them as some alt-stuff in the far future. About art
I stream it, and basically It get you followers but not viewers, and they barely chat and when they do they are usually artist too, so you never see then again. The good thing is, it's a low effort stream, I draw anytime so why not just stream it, you put on the tittle of "cozy and chill" and it don't drain your energy of "i have to perform" you know. Outside of stream it's definitly the best skill to have

Because that one anon asked for it, I’m gonna share my progress in my first month of streaming.
First couple days were soul crushing, bad audio and scuff, 0 viewers. Then I decided to read the stuff on this board and start interacting with some smaller CHUUBAS. Mainly fixed my audio scuff, doing voice training to make myself sound better, and I’m definitely feeling HYPE streaming.

Still wish I could get at least one subscriber per day, but I’m working on clipping my streams and adding more KAYFAYBE.
Planning on seeing what the next month will bring, I can feel myself improving.

Language acquisition is a combination of use and vocabulary. Unless you're regularly talking with somebody else who speaks the language, you're not getting the aural feedback you need to properly learn. You're just forming words and sounds without hearing them returned to you. This can lead you into bad pronunciation and term use habits. Its usually the first place that students using immersion methods struggle the hardest because they'll try to converse with a native speaker and that person will either struggle to understand you or not hear what you thought you said. That can be frustrating and even a little jarring because /you/ think what you're saying is right so obviously they're just messing with you, right? But its a defect in your feedback.

Immersion methods (spending all of your time or most of your time speaking a particular language) are the most conducive to learning that new language because it removes your crutches (you don't get to fall back to your primary language to try to express a term that your audience may not understand) and forces you to do what native speakers do, draw on the vocabulary you have to express what you're trying to say.

There's also the gap between formality and informality to consider. Formal speaking is what you learn in classes and school and its fine for technical work and looking professional when speaking and writing. Its also fine for learning to do things "the right way." However, most people don't speak formally in most contexts. Language is a mode of communication that adapts between speaker and hearer. If you want to know how to express yourself to an audience, you have to interact with that audience. Notice how they speak, figure out why they speak that way, adapt it to your own mode of speaking the language. Incorporate slang and idioms (with caution, obviously).

Finally, accent is usually the final hurdle. I learned Spanish years ago and while I was doing so, my accent changed probably 6 times. I sounded like an idiot lost tourist for a while, and then that accent changed to match the sorts of people I talked to regularly. It changed because those were the people I heard speak the most and those were the people by whom I wanted to be understood the most.

It sounds like stupid "don't forget to hit that bell!" bullshit, but no joke, a lot of viewers straight up forget they have amazon prime and thus get a free sub. If you can't bring yourself to say it on stream then set up a little timed notification image popup or a text bot post to the chat reminding people they can sub to you for free with their Prime.

Helps if you're offering something extra for that sub other than their support to you. Invest in some emotes both ones that specifically reference your channel and some that are generic enough that the subscriber would be tempted to use them in chat on another channel. Cross-channel emote use is kinda underestimated for marketing reach.

I mean, if you're looking for subscriptions on YT that's even easier since a YT subscription is just a Twitch follow and both are free. We always groan about how dumb those little "hey don't forget to sub and click the bell and blow my mom" messages are, but I remember reading some market research that strongly implied a correlation to including those messages (as minimally annoyingly as possible if you can help it) and an increase in subscriptions and reach. Same applies to clicking "like on the stream or video as it adds magic points to your algo luck.
