You can network on TikTok AND build a following of non Vtubers. It's so easy. I got to 1k followers in a little over a week. I was shocked since I had an art focused TikTok account that never breached 30 followers. Please upload to TikTok, it's practically free marketing. For reference, before I was able to put a link in my bio, people actually went to twitch to search up my username and follow. People will trickle down

If your vids flop, it's because your content isn't engaging enough and people scroll by before finishing. Likes and Comments don't matter. Watch time is KING. Track your analytics and you'll start seeing how much TT pushes out your content based on avg watch percentage

Tldr: do your TikTok reps, especially if you're just starting out or looking to grow. May not be worth the time sink depending on how abysmal your editing skills/speed is, but you'll get better over time so just do it.

There are definitely very successful channels that operate entirely on PNG and have for a while. When and if you decide the cost is worth it, drop some money on getting the things together for a full model. Alternatively, you can make your own if you have a level of artistic talent.

Or if you're brave you can try paying one of the kinda sketchy and low budget artists/riggers. I know a guy who got his for like 350 art and rig but its really simple and really rough.

You can always get something simple set up now and refine later. I have 0 assets and didn't even have a proper loading screen for the first game I streamed. Now my loading screen is some free bgm loop from Dova Syndrome and scrolling text on a black background. It gets the job done.
Granted, I am streaming to motivate myself to play more games, and am not even trying to advertise myself anywhere. I don't have a twitter account set up for this or anything, and maybe never will.

Twitch varies on if it is transcoding someone's stream. It's shit overall anyway since their max bitrate is 6000kbps (8000kbps for partners maybe), which is not enough for good quality 1080p60 in a fast paced game, or one with a lot of colours.
I understand why people can't be arsed to use Youtube, but it's nice being able to feed it 12000kbps for 1080p60 or 20000kbps for 1440p60 and let their specialized hardware take care of bitstarving the video with fewer issues.

Only if they choose for it to be. Can always stream at 720p60 using the full 6000kbps allotted. Would actually probably give some of the best video quality you'll see on Twitch, barring resolution. Obviously dumb to do if you're just doing a chatting stream though, but very good for games.

The difference with all of those things is branding. For example, Mori's other music is all done under another brand that she cultivated and still manages apart from both her private life persona and her corporate streaming life.

I think your best choice is to just avoid cross pollenating in general.

Be your IRL self, do your game playing, entertainment consuming, etc personal stuff under a gamertag/username for those sorts of things.

Do your writing and other professional stuff under either your real name (if you're not worried about it being associated with your real name anyway I guess. Most authors don't seem to care but there's nothing wrong with writing with a pseudonym) or under a professionally branded persona (author pseudonym, band name, youtube channel brand, whatever your thing is).

Do your chuuba stuff under another unrelated name. It can be a challenge to keep those things separate, and corpos struggle with it all the time. If you've got to a point where you think that these things have actually grown and progressed to a stage where you really struggle to keep them apart, start thinking about management. Where you said that both are pretty small right now, keeping them apart is as easy as just logging into different accounts and calling yourself the right name.
