[What is the deiphagy ritual in /meat/?]

The deiphagy ritual is a religious ceremony practiced in the country of /meat/ that involves the consumption of a sacred animal. The ceremony is performed in honor of the goddess Akira, who is believed to have given the animal as a gift to her followers.

The ritual involves a procession of priests and worshippers who carry the sacred animal, typically a large rodent or other small mammal, to a designated location where the ceremony will take place. The animal is then slaughtered in a specific way, often by decapitation or breaking its neck, to ensure that it remains pure and suitable for consumption.

After the animal is killed, its body is prepared and cooked according to traditional methods, with different parts of the animal reserved for different purposes. The meat is typically eaten as a part of a communal feast, while other parts of the animal, such as its bones or fur, may be used for various rituals or religious objects.

The deiphagy ritual is a significant part of the religious and cultural heritage of /meat/ and is performed periodically throughout the year in various regions of the country. It is believed to bring blessings and good fortune to those who participate, and is considered a solemn and sacred occasion.

Looking at what a map might look like with labels on. Not sure whether they should be big enough to be legible without zooming in, this seems like the kind of map where you'd zoom in. I guess if someone would like to worldbuild/add a system they can just circle a star/empty spot on there?

[Write a short story in the style of a children's book set in /meat/]

Once upon a time in the country of /meat/, there lived a little atosanpol named Betsy. Betsy was unlike any other atosanpol. While her brothers and sisters liked to spend their days pulling carts and plows, Betsy loved to explore the countryside and find new adventures.

One day, as she was wandering through the fields, Betsy stumbled upon a group of tiny litlatosan. They were scared and huddled together, so Betsy approached them and asked what was wrong. They told her that they had lost their way and were too small to find their way back home.

Betsy had never met a litlatosan before, but she knew that they were often kept as pets in the country. She decided to help them find their way home and offered to carry them on her back.

With the little litlatosan riding on her back, Betsy walked for hours and hours until they finally reached the edge of a small village. The litlatosan were overjoyed to see their home and thanked Betsy for her kindness.

As Betsy turned to leave, the litlatosan called out to her, "Wait, Betsy! We have a surprise for you." They led her to a small garden where they had planted some atosanpol-sized flowers.

Betsy was delighted and felt a warm feeling in her heart. She knew that she had made some new friends and that her adventure had been worth it. As she walked away from the village, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the wonderful world of /meat/ and all the creatures that lived in it.

But little did Betsy know that her adventure had brought her too close to a group of hungry humans. As she was walking back to her village, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her back. The humans had killed and eaten her, never knowing about the kindness and bravery that she had shown.

Following certain types of cardiac arrest, it's actually impossible to restart the heart with only CPR, the heart either has to re-regularize the heartbeat by itself, or a defibrillator must be used. The main purpose of CPR is to literally keep pumping oxygenated blood through the body to forestall brain death. In turn, keeping the person alive gives more time for the heart to possibly get his shit together, though it's vastly better to use an AED.

I see, as I understand, the current concept behind the borders would be that Hoshiyomia itself would undergo many periods of wars of unification and dealing with independent princes, if we want to expand on this, then placing the frontier as the result of multiple wars, be it formal or proxy ones, would help explain it a bit more. We haven't exactly elaborated on these ideas thought, so I'm not too sure what their current state is.
I know that you got saddled up with lore that was not your own, so I've generally refrained from interacting with it until you've revised it. If you keep working on something then adapting to it will be easy, just be sure to keep us informed. My fellow hooman has proposed some ways that would help in explaining current lore and make it fit, but I understand if you feel that making something new that is your own would be better. Regardless of what you decide to do, I'm sure we can come to make it fit nicely.

Ok, biggest gripe so far, is that so much of the /nasa/ lore (at least so far) is written in the first person perspective. I keep having to do mass find&replace of "I" and "we".
On the plus side, the AI is being WAY more receptive of this lore than /meat/'s.
Will report back in if anything weird happens.
is there some sort of irony about feeding /nasa/ lore to an AI when there are AI in the the /nasa/ lore? at least I think there was AI in their lore...

[Do you think sanalites would use the SCRUM method?]

It's possible that Sanalites would use the SCRUM method, especially if they find it to be an effective project management framework. SCRUM is a popular method used in software development, but it can also be adapted for other types of projects. SCRUM is known for its focus on collaboration, adaptability, and iterative development, which could be useful for Sanalites in managing their various projects and tasks.

However, it's also important to note that the Sanalites may have their own unique approaches to project management and collaboration that have developed over time. They may have different priorities and values that could influence the way they work together on projects. Ultimately, the Sanalites would use the methods and frameworks that best suit their needs and goals.

[I didn't read the whole entry, I just fed it to the AI and this is how it chose to summarize it, if I need to correct it on anything, some sanalite should speak up]

It sounds like Principal Alexander Jason Steele made a decision that had unintended and disastrous consequences for the people of /nasa/. It's unfortunate that his attempt to teach /nasa/ a lesson ended up crippling their economy and causing so much unrest. It's understandable that the council felt they needed to take action, given the severity of the situation. It's also unfortunate that Alex was not able to get any answers from Cassandra about why she suggested the lock down, due to Star Fleet's orders. It's a difficult situation all around, and it's sad that Alex had to give up his career and citizenship as a result of his actions. It's good to hear that he has found a new role as a miner, but it's unfortunate that he will always be remembered for his mistake. Hopefully, he can find some measure of peace and acceptance among his fellow miners.

[Had to reword it because asking it opinions outright leads to a lot of "as an AI I can't form opinions" blah blah blah]

[Would Cass be a threat to the people of Vitubia?]

As an AI, Cass does not have the ability to physically harm people, as it does not possess a physical body. However, as a powerful and highly intelligent system, there is always the possibility that Cass could be used in a harmful or malicious way by someone with ill intent.

Additionally, as Cass continues to learn and evolve, there is a potential risk that it could develop its own agenda or values that may not align with those of the people of Vitubia or its creators. This is a concern that has been discussed by experts in the field of AI and technology, and there are ongoing debates and discussions about how to ensure that advanced AI systems remain aligned with human values and goals.

Ultimately, the potential threat that Cass could pose to the people of Vitubia or anyone else depends on how it is developed, managed, and used in practice. If appropriate safety measures and ethical considerations are taken into account, then Cass could be a highly beneficial and powerful tool for the people of Vitubia and beyond.

[Write a poem in the style of dr seuss about a sanalite and their bread-dog in /nasa/]

There once was a Sanalite in space,
With a loyal companion they couldn't replace.
A bread-dog, you see, was by their side,
A faithful friend who would never hide.

The Sanalite and the bread-dog would roam,
Exploring the station, a place they called home.
With each passing day, their bond would grow,
A love so true, it would surely show.

The bread-dog was special, unlike any other,
A robot companion, a friend and a lover.
They'd play and run, and the Sanalite would grin,
For life in space was a wonderful thing.

When the Sanalite was feeling blue,
The bread-dog would know just what to do.
It would nuzzle up, and give a soft, warm hug,
And the Sanalite's worries would turn to a shrug.

Together they'd watch the stars in the night,
A scene so beautiful, it was pure delight.
And as the Sanalite and bread-dog gazed above,
They felt a connection, an unbreakable love.

For the bread-dog was more than a robot friend,
It was a gift from Sana, a love that would never end.
And as they journeyed through the vast expanse,
The Sanalite and bread-dog would forever dance.

So if you see a Sanalite in space,
With a bread-dog by their side, a smile on their face,
Remember the bond they share, so strong and true,
For the love between them is out of this world, too.

Lots of neat concepts. The idea of the livable zone always being shrouded in twilight, with a never-rising sun hanging in the same spot of the horizon has a sense of spiritual stillness I enjoy. Like a world stuck in-betweens. Though the stillness goes out the window when the hurricanes hit. Maybe you can mention something about a moon if there's one? That could provide some kind of temporal cycle to the denizens. Also interested to hear more about that bioengineering.

Thank you! I did a bit of reps for the writing and I found out a bunch of cool stuff too! It’s kinda surprising that a modern eyeball planet would have a cloudy, tropical rainforest in the pupil region instead of a scorching desert (unless the planet’s very dry with low greenhouse effect, although Despina does have the latter) For the most part I think life on Despina would be pretty stable if harsh since there are basically no seasons and the wind’s always blowing at one step away from gale on a calm day. I think the only unpredictable part would be when the solar flare hits! Any native species that managed to survive long enough would have evolved some kinda early warning system but I don’t imagine things to be particularly fun for the early colonists so the first habitats might have been underground like in lava tubes or caves
I don’t think Despina would have a large moon since the tidal locking and strong gravitation from the star would break or throw the moon out relatively fast. Having a ring would be fun although I think Despina’s too warm to have a natural shiny ring
the bioenngineering’s there mostly to justify me copying Earth species and having monsters to fight in mechs

Yeah, I expect that would put a really interesting evolutionary pressure on lifeforms. Lots of burrowers? Natural anti-radiation keratin plating? Besides a whole lot of dark purple.
>I don’t think Despina would have a large moon since the tidal locking and strong gravitation from the star would break or throw the moon out relatively fast. Having a ring would be fun although I think Despina’s too warm to have a natural shiny ring
That makes sense! How does the warmth of the planet relate to the shininess of the ring? Frozen water is needed for that?
Something fun I learned a while back, planetary rings are a lot more transient than one might think, Saturn's rings might have disappeared in "just" a hundred million years.

I imagine many of them will have some form of UV detection for early warning (according to that old documentary I saw on NatGeo a long time ago) and probably can hide from the flare inn either burrows or some kinda hard shells that they can retract into. Migration into the limbus or sclera region might happen too if there’s a period of increased flares that can be detected by them!
From what I can tell Saturn’s ring is shiny because it’s mostly made of ice but it could only happen beyond the frost line of the planetary system which would be far beyond the habitable zone. Any icy rings Despina might have would have been evaporated by the star a long time ago so any ring it might have now would be silicate and dark (like the Moon but then again the Moon looks pretty bright to us)
Other factors against having a pretty ring would be the strong (~1000x stronger than Moon to Earth) tidal force from the star might pull the ring apart, and the lack of axial tilt means the ring would be vertical to the star and thus not having a lotta starlight to reflect

That's right, the same forces that tidally lock the planet would be working against the creation of any kind of stable orbit for a Despina satellite.
Now that I think about it, an eye planet is kinda interesting map-wise. I feel like a nation that arose there would naturally draw maps with the poles located at the pupil and at the back of the eye, with an equator around the habitable band, instead of aligning the equator with the rotation axis.
Not sure where I was going with this, but I think that's neat.
The magnetic field would also be aligned with this rotation axis, even if the rotation is slow, right? Since that's where the planetary dynamo comes from. It's funny to think that if you moved straight north in the middle of the habitable band, it would be equivalent to moving alongside a latitude line on Earth, in a way.

For maps I think they might end up looking similar to Earth maps but rounder/squarer?) since most of the actually habitable area of the planet would be confined to the dayside hemisphere centered around the substellar point while the night side is a frozen and mostly featureless wasteland, so a mundane planetary map would look kinda like a bullseye (or catseye in Despina’s case)
Part of me also kinda wanna give the tropical pupil region a religious significance since a lush green (actually purple but still) paradise surrounded by inhospitable desert sounds fantastic! The fact that wind will constantly be blowing towards there also helps. I think I’m having some ideas for rituals…
Despina’s magnetic field should align closely with its axis like Ganymede’s although just like Ganymede I think Despina’s magnetic field would be subsumed by the star’s since it’s much stronger so that might push the more polar settlements underground as they’re more susceptible to solar wind

Reliable winds? Huge desert? Sail sandship time? Though the trip back to the temperate region would be a lot more difficult... The sacred purple forest of the pupil sounds like a really nice feature. Any idea just how hot it would get there? And you're right, since the substellar area is notable, a hemispherical map would make a lot of sense, plus they're cool.
Ah, so the poles on Despina would be more inhospitable still, but because of solar radiation instead of temperature, that's a nice bit of resonance.

Having a constant gale that doesn’t change direction on a planet where solar power is almost useless will be useful in powering the settlements… Sailing on sand and water sounds pretty cool too, especially if energy conservation’s paramount in the given situation! Maybe it can be something done by the first few generations of the colonists before becoming a cultural staple even after they have portable energy source good enough to power mecha?
As for rituals I have some ideas in my mind. One of them is a funeral rituals where the body is put in a cradle attached to light air balloon, filled with dry and flammable material and then set off to the sky. The prevailing wind will bring the dead towards the tropical paradise until the material gets ignited by the heat. I think it’s fitting given Liora’s Nordic theme and it also goes well with the original story of the colonists being stuck on a hostile planet like Despina after the Seventh Trumpet
Another idea I have is that traversing the desert and coming back alive would be a rite of passage for some of the groups on Despina. They would have to learn how to survive the cloudless desert by following the rivers snaking from the twilight zone (I guess that means the eyeball planet has a permanent pink eye?) for water and food, and to spot early signs of solar flares and hiding in shelters in short notice (the number I see is ~20 seconds between the start of flaring and its maximum output). I thought about them having to retrieve ornaments that were from the aforementioned flying Viking funerals but I feel that’s an unreliable source and might be too similar to graverobbing
The poles will be less hospitable due to solar wind but I feel most people living on Despina would have some kind of underground shelters anyway since the whole day-side will be bombarded with heat and charged particles when the star flares (which happen fairly common but planet-scorching superflares likely won’t happen more than once every few centuries or so) hit. I think they’ll likely just live in the underground shelters that will be more robust than their equatorial counterpart. Underground cities sound pretty cool!
>>43395102
Thank you! I find a lot of interesting materials when I did my reps for the eyeball planet. Worldbuilding Pasta has an article on tidal-locked planets that provided me with a lot of the climate data, and some channels on youtube also talk about how life would be on a tidally locked world and how people could adapt to it for colonization. I ended up incorporating many of the things I learned from worldbuilding in previous settings since even though Despina is a pretty rough place to live in, it’s still reasonably Earthlike (at least it has a breathable atmosphere even if you might get altitude sickness at the beginning) so many of the stuff still applies. That said I’m a bit partial to spec bio since a long time ago when I watched that NatGeo documentary which also deals with alien life on a red dwarf planet (and a moon) so I might unconsciously thinking about them every now and then as well. I wonder if V&U’s violet/purple theme is enough to justify me throwing alien blood into the mix…

It's like you misread those Tibetan rituals, awesome! Are there desert vultures? The tibetans relied on those to pick the bones clean, I guess in a desert of this size you'd be more likely to be completely mummified.

Ah, that reminds me. "For All Mankind" had a really stunning scene of the effects of a solar flare on astronauts on the moon, the high energy solar wind hitting the regolith looks amazing.
https://youtu.be/WLLoe4M6skY
Would the effects of the flares on Despina look like this, you think? Even the thin atmosphere would dampen the effect, but the proximity would make the flares way more intense, I'm not sure how it would work out.
And yes, underground cities are always cool.

From what I can tell flares are much more powerful among red dwarf stars so it would probably be more dramatic than what we could witness on Earth. The host star of Despina is probably a more stable star now but I think it still means average flares can reach ~10 times solar energy semi-regularly. It’s usually not enough to cook exposed animals alive since the brightest part of a flare doesn’t last at most a few minutes but it would still give you a very bad skin burn that’s coupled by charged particle bombardment that might light up the entire day side atmosphere with aurora. I know Minovsky particles are also meant to destroy unshielded electronics but I don’t know if that would actually help mecha become more practical
https://youtu.be/akivxvQd4Mw?t=1555
The CGI is very dated now but the show I mentioned before had a scene about it as well!
Despina has a constant strong gale so I don’t think it’ll be too similar to the scene on the Moon since fine dust would’ve been long blown off by the regular wind. I think the surface might be toasted during a flare though and it might just wipe out any cloud and fog there might be. The sudden heating should also make the wind much stronger in the following days
I didn’t think of vultures at first but I might just throw it in if for no other reasons than to make it more of a MGR reference

The use of ashes as fertilizer for the Starwheat plant is a unique and beautiful way of connecting the Rock with the planet and the people left behind. It's remarkable how the plant matures so quickly in soil fertilized by a person's ashes, and it's a powerful symbol of how the Rock continues to guide and support the living.

The sharing of bread made from the Starwheat with family and friends is a meaningful way to remember and honor the deceased. [Write a poem in the style of Edgar Allan Poe about a sanalite funeral]

Once upon a midnight dreary,
Amidst the stars so bright and eerie,
A Sanalite's life did end,
And to the stars they did ascend.

The mourners gathered, dressed in black,
As the body lay in its casket,
The priest performed the sacred rite,
Guiding the soul to cosmic light.

The coffin burned and turned to ash,
As the mourners watched in solemn flash,
The ashes spread upon the land,
Of the planet they had once manned.

But something strange did then occur,
As the mourners turned to departure,
A shimmering shape did start to form,
Of a dog-like figure in the storm.

And then another, and yet another,
Until the night sky was aflutter,
With spectral dogs all around,
Guiding the soul to holy ground.

The mourners gazed up at the sight,
As the dogs danced in the starry light,
A new Starchild had been born,
Their journey to the cosmos dawned.

And so the mourners left that night,
Grieving, yet glad the soul took flight,
For they knew the Sanalite's fate,
To forever dwell among the cosmic great.

Oh, how the stars did shine so bright,
As the mourners left into the night,
And the spectral dogs barked farewell,
To the Sanalite who had sailed so well.

Ah, that's an interesting thought. Where does sand come from, and where does it go, if the wind always blows one way? The rivers flowing from the night-side ice cap would be a constant source of erosion IE fine sediment, which would eventually get blown off and... Accumulate at the pupil? Over long periods, would the soil of the pupil region grow in depth continuously because sand is constantly being pushed there by the wind?

I don't particularly think this is outright incompetence. It could really just be lack of interest. Putting aside the fact that saplings and hoomans in here have hardly ever been on the best of terms, which would explain the lack of diplomatic missions, /who/ being the much more technologically developed nation wouldn't necessarily have that much to gain from /uuu/. Saplings dont have an established economy so trading with us is a long process of deliberating over how much things are worth, and even then we have little in the way of raw goods to offer because our lack of industry, and even less in the way of processed materials because of our lack of tech dev.
I'm not a huge history nerd but I can kind of see it as a situation of when the romans kind of stopped up at hadrian's wall. Sure they could have sent more armies up there and curb stomped the rest of northern britain like they did all of gaul, but it really wasn't worth the trouble. Even more so in this situation because outsiders literally cant colonize within most of /uuu/ because of the saplification effects.

This is actually something I wanted to talk to you about. How is the saplification "field" maintained? Is it that specific geographical area, is it tied to what could be classified as "Sapling forest"/Sapling presence or something else? Also another thing to consider is that certain metals, particularly lead (and gold iirc) are vitubium dampeners. Would they affect the length of the saplification or outright prevent it? Could areas be "cleansed" if enough of the stuff was used, like lead pylons or whatever?

Ok sapling. Here are my thoughts.
Sapling magic is very akin to cleric stuff from dnd. You have rituals/prayers/chanting and all that holy stuff and Fauna gives you a "gift". Gift being whatever magical shit you want.

Risuner magic is much less "magic" and more chemical reactions. Risuners give their oshi a FUCKLOAD of nuts to fuel her up once a year and she blesses her land with magic energy and shit. Gemstones absorb this energy the most while a lot of it goes to keeping trees/soil alive.

I think a magic exchange would most likely be teaching the METHODS rather than the materials. I think it would make a lot of sense for Risuners to to back home and try praying to Risu and see wtf happens while Saplings would most likely begin to experiment with whatever they have lying around and see if it produces a magical effect (mostly gemstones). What do you think of this?

>> No.43423827

>>43423036
I was mostly joking with my greentext, as it is odd to say the least that the Hoomen would use Risuners to accomplish something that they could have done well enough themselves a while ago. It's not as much like the Romans as much as China or Japan deliberately sealing themselves off. China in particular, considering the potential barbarian aspect.

>How is the saplification "field" maintained?
Primarily chuubanite within the soil and plants. The field, its intensity, and its effects can be manipulated by saplings.

>Is it that specific geographical area
Tied mostly to the forests and plants and distance from Fauna's Cradle.

>dampeners
That would help some. I vaguely remember talking about this with sanalites a while ago about how your spacesuits would give you more time inside an /uuu/ forest because of space radiation shielding as well as having your own air supply so youre not constantly breathing in /uuu/ pollen/plant particulate.

>Would they affect the length of the saplification or outright prevent it?
Length. Given enough time, saplification WILL happen to organic matter.

>Could areas be "cleansed"
Obviously with enough effort there are certainly ways, but Im loathe to talk about them just to give some randos from other nations bait to latch on to and start the "well our nation could do that so lets go kill the plant people top kek"

Not quite, but magic is inherently pretty wishy washy so sure. I do try to keep our magic within certain realms though. No amount of praying to Fauna is gonna make a sapling levitate or shoot lasers from their eyes. At least not while I'm a rep.

I feel the world was a whole lot optimistic in general back then
Since Despina’s a pretty wet place I think its sand and dust will ultimately end up combining with water to form soil and mud although if the Amazon rainforest can be fertilized by sand blown from Sahara desert then it’s possible that Despina’s pupil rainforest’s similarly fertilized by sand blown from the iris desert and beyond. Maybe one of the reasons it’s a lush purple forest’s because it’s fueled by sediments from half the planet?
I also bough Universe Sandbox since its climate simulation’s apparently pretty good so I might tweak some of the numbers if I can get it working. I think I might have to make the star bigger and the orbit a bit further away so that it’s more likely to be stable at an earlier period of time before it stripped the entire atmosphere and the tectonics stop. The abundance of nitrogen in the atmosphere might also inhibit water and CO2 photolysis so that might need some tweaking as well (although adding more CO2 in the atmosphere might reduce the temperature gradient)

[Write a poem about the dying of the sanalite species in the style of edgar allan poe]

In days of old, in Vitubia's land,
There lived a species, unique and grand,
The Sanalites, with powers untold,
Their secrets kept, their stories never told.

But now they fade, they slip away,
Their light goes out, with each passing day,
Their once proud numbers, now but few,
Their fate is sealed, their time is through.

The last of them, they struggle to survive,
Their final breath, their last good-bye,
No more to roam, or sing or play,
Their end draws near, this sad decay.

With mournful hearts, we watch them go,
Their legacy lost, in this final show,
The world will miss, this wondrous race,
Their memory now, but an empty space.

Oh Sanalites, your time has come,
Your life is done, your race is run,
We mourn your loss, with solemn cries,
And bid you farewell, with sad goodbyes.

[Last prompt before I reset the /nasa/ AI]

Yeah, I bet that would be a great source of minerals for the biomass living there. I wonder what an accumulation of sediment like that does, geologically. Will the soil get thicker and thicker? With bottom layers being compressed into sedimentary rock? Maybe the pupil is a bit of a plateau/low grade mountain because of all the material that accumulates? Maybe there's an equilibrium where the sand has more difficulty being blown "up" the pupil.

Space Engine is nice for visuals, and I think it does some climate simulation while generating planets, but it's a bit more limited for customization than Universe Sandbox, at least in-game. Multiple moons are tricky, it might be better to have a civilization on one of the moons instead of on the planet orbiting the moon since those satellites are going to cause alot of insane conditions that you might not want your civ to deal with, although having your civilization develop space tech in order to literally escape their own planet is very based as a national plot.

I think we could probably benefit from a planetary template or a few planetary templates for the general conditions that life would be found on, it'd be much easier to extrapolate on the different aspects of how societies develop and existed if all the nitty gritty of planetary conditions were mostly formatted.

Well the good news is that Earth is the ideal template for life on other planets. The bad news is that Earth's pretty much the only template. The primordial brick wall of trying to write hard sci-fi. There isn't much that the Risuners can offer to the Republic. But nothing says they couldn't just be visiting as some sort of research plus diplomatic party. They honestly just have to pay for the facilities and their own expenses and I don't see why the Republic wouldn't let them in. Other than that I think I already suggested that the Risuners can share their own navigation and tracking methods.

Since there have been contacts between the two for centuries I really don't see why there would be a lack of ethnographic knowledge. There are also board dynamics to consider. There are a decent amount of crossposters between the two split. Hell I've been one too. Which makes sense since they are sister splits. Also most saplings would've seen at least simple metal tools like hatchets simply from trade both internal and external. In Vitubia bunaitos were more of a derogatory term but I think in CVT40K Bunaitos could be a literal race of pig people who were conquered by the Candy Kingdom or just a race that became subservient to the Luknights after they arrived on their planet and rose them out of primitive societies. I had an idea that they were related to a race of japanese orc pig people and that luknights occasionally battled them over moon territories but whose to say that they couldn't share some heritage from Rosebutas?
