This. What I like about Indonesia is Indonesian in general doesn't really place much serious beauty standards in entertainment industry. In Japan, even the comedians have to be slightly attractive. In Korea your chance of success is so miniscule if you don't do plastic surgery. In Indonesia people like Sule or Dono are the top dogs.
There are still some beauty standards, like in movies or sinetron, filled with mixed blood actors or chindo. It is a fact that if you use "local" actors, it would not be as profitable. But imo, it's their fault for not being able to deliver good stories or other qualities so they have to cover it up with pretty faces.
It's the same with ID vtubing, someone talented like Kobo doesn't need to show her face to be able to reign at the top. But I can't help but to judge those who do hybrid vtuber thing as someone who are lacking in talent so they have to show their faces.

Honestly I hate this hybrid trend, it misses the point of being a vtuber.

Note that a sizable portion of ID VTubers are actually cosplayers irl.

I think VRchama is most likely only use the numbers from the front page of a particular VTuber's Playboard page. On that page, the numbers are counted from the latest 15 streams. You can search for the particular month (like January 2023 on that VRchama's numbers). But, you can only do so much with the free account on Playboard. You have to subscribe to it to gain detailed numbers and the cheapest plan is $29.99 per month.
