It's true that novelty does wear off over time, but that fact gives us no insight into the underlying popularity and potential of a medium like AItubing.
Imagine people seeing Pong for the first time and thinking "this will never replace tennis, so there's no future to video games".
It's like you're extrapolating backwards from a single data point, which inevitably leads to the wrong conclusion.
The fundamental dynamics at play here are that people want entertainment, but art is subjective, and people have different interests.
So some people like looking at cute anime girls, while some people find that cringe, and some people like react content and other people like watching FPS games, etc.
Current AIs might only be able to produce content that is relevant to 1% of the market (i.e. English language cute vtuber Minecraft/Osu/react content) and maybe it's only 10% as good as the best human creators in those niches for now.
But in principle someone could one day make an AItuber that passes the streaming equivalent of the Turing test, by using a deepfaked webcam feed, and a language AI that's smart enough to understand the game and chat to the same level as a human.
Maybe that's 10 years away or more, and maybe some people will tell themselves they prefer "real" humans, because AItubers are taking the jobs of hardworking streamers, but I don't see AItubing disappearing between now and then.

There's a fine amount of difference between vtubers, who are essentially just streamers with some makeup, and AI. I won't go into what AI can and can't do in the future, but for now we only have glorified chatbots.
And what else can you expect AI to do on stream, something that can entertain a lot of people? Most of the training was probably just to make sure his speech transcription AI (Whisper?) correctly understood Miyune.

Organizing collabs with people, especially ones in other timezones, can be a big distraction.
I'm guessing that eventually the collab partners will start repeating, which will make things easier, because they won't need rehearsals and he won't have to tune the AI to recognize their voice.
It would make sense for him to delegate the organization process to someone else though, perhaps even hiring a freelance vtuber manager, who has a load of connections, and also knows about permissions and merch and sponsorships, etc.
