Been playing around with the filters. The AI can read messages like this, and there may be some viability in getting them to speak like this through definitions. Theoretically, any character between other textual characters should work. If any other anons want to explore this, feel free. Would tell us more about the filter systems if even a bot that is defined to speak like this gets filtered.

desu i need to sleep too but these two links are probably the best tips. chai’s guide helps with formatting and everything, the soft prompt stuff is for kobold and heavily influences writing style, but you have to download them / create them yourself.

you can experiment with different types of code for formatting your bots (python, w++ are a few that people use), they all result in completely different outputs and personalities. so just keep testing until you find the one you like.

forgot to mention but always keep context size at below 1400, keep your tokens below at least 1000. generation settings depend on bot but try to keep temp at 1.1-1.2 for more creative bots and 0.8-0.9 for straightforward bots.

as for which context is more important, the order follows as is:

scenario > personality > description > first message > example chats (forgot the order of these two, if you really want to check then check the command prompt you used to open tavern, it will show you the entire context).

pyg mode runs from top to bottom, the traits and messages listed FIRST will heavily influence the output. If you feed the bots one liners for the first few messages, they will learn from one liners. If you feed them eloquent, descriptive prompts, they will respond in kind.

example chats only influence speech patterns and behaviors, not writing style. (this is mostly confirmed)

no. it caps at 1048 (i think) tokens. Anything further will just not be used unless you are using the kobold TPU’s, but those are usually all used up. using a TPU will cap you at the full 2k tokens. example chats are quickly phased out by the ai once you start messaging, and it will use your chats as the new ‘example’ chat. so when you see bots giving really short/uncreative responses, it’s mostly like because you’re feeding it those responses. even crappy bots with low effort/token counts can write amazing output if the user is skilled enough at writing.

basically, yes. I (mostly) figured out how to solve this problem by making a extremely detailed and descriptive first message, which allows you to be a little lazy with your own prompts for awhile. pyg’s memorybank caps out on GPU’s (TPU’s are better) at 14-15 messages (combined from you and the bot, longer prompts give less from for memory so the bot will try to scrape the important points) from my experiments, which is similar to CAI in it’s current state.

Also, I've noticed that some of my bots have the opposite problem of being too short, where their posts become so long that they cut themselves off mid-sentence and start to mess up the formatting so that actions aren't in asterisks or dialogue is. Just to clear it up. To me it sounds like the bots pull 1048 token from the example and then uses those tokens to formulate a response and the most recent chats are used as well.

But do if you have say 5000 tokens in the example chat how is Pyg pulling responses since if it is the first 1048 and everything is discarded that means all examples should never go over that but if it is randomized and the entire 5000 tokens is looked over to pick the 1048 tokens. That would mean having an extremely large example chat is more desirable as it will give the bot more to work with and then it just comes down to swiping responses for better responses.

I found something weird when playing around with pyg+Tavern.
I was frustated with my character keep giving me the wrong answer everytime I ask her to describe her hair. So I mess around with the settings and discovered that when I lower the repetition penalty to 1, it seems to give the correct answer more often than with repetition penalty of 1.05. Still I'm not sure if its actually the case or I am just more lucky with my generation sometimes. Can anyone else check if it also happen on their end as well?

I want her to switch up her nicknames for you depending on her mood. Like calling you "Doggy" whenever she's happy, or calling you "mutt" whenever she's offended or angry. Some onomatopoeias like "Uwaa" and "Gefufufu" are fine, things that reinforce her bratty behavior. But I don't want her to spam these, just enough to give her some character and show playfulness. I tested her using Pygmalion 6B in Google Colab GPU with TavernAI.

She speaks in third person and refer to herself as ateshi, but sometimes she might not do so. I recommend regenerating her message until she refer herself as ateshi again unless you want her to stop referring herself as ateshi.
Also, beware that this bot has tendency to repeat itself in its message. If you can be bothered you can just trim off the repeated message. But if you can't, higher temperature will make the bot repeat itself less. But it will make the bot less sensible so I don't recommend putting it above 1.2 temperature.
To be fair though even when they do work properly, Aqua pyg is still less sensible than regular pyg bots. I think it is because I force them to refer themselves in third person which caused pygma(balls) to get confused.

I think I found something out based on the experiences from some anons here and my own; Tavern and Gradio pygmas accept different formatting. Gradio pygma is fine with CAI regular (almost) formatting but gets finnicky with W++ style formatting of descs and chats, whereas Tavern would rather have you use W++ instead of CAI formatting. Gradio makes the bot pull out a random {([s and plaster it on the reply of the bot if you have it formatted with W++ or even just the normal "{{user/char}}" thing in the dialogue examples. But Tavern is fine with all of that but might end up throwing a random excerpt of the description of the bot on the chat or even the entire thing (see this anon's post) >>42550963 if you use normal text formatting or CAI instead of W++. I feel like there's more and this is only scratching the surface of it. I don't even have time now because I have things to do soon enough, once I'm done with that stuff I'll start experimenting with this myself and check the proper way to format bots in either.

tl;dr Tavern and Gradio accept different types of formatting and clash with each other.
