can't help you there, I don't have an issue with it. Once you've learned kana you should pretty much know what mora/phonemes Japanese speakers could even be picking from when they say things. There isn't that much that can go wrong after that, if you know to check different variations of kana with phonemes that sound similar enough that you could mistake them. For me it was probably this, Marine struck me as very funny in that Collab and after that I started watching more collabs with her and when I least realized I was watching more of her solo streams than any other her Holo, she quickly became my favorite.

My first impression was that she was the funny touhou streamer that also talked about porn

mine was the Kanata monomane gyakutotsu.

It was a really good first impression too, she came across as someone who was quick to laugh and spontaneous in a fun way. She also came across as a quick thinker as an entertainer too, to come up with the idea on the spot to totsu Aqua as 4 Marines was genius. That moment going viral was genuinely a pretty huge boost to growth back in those early days, and it's nice to think she deserves the credit for making it happen, along with the others who were game and jumped on the opportunity. It reflected well on the holobox in general really, everyone came across as people who were really just having fun with their gig as streamers. Good times to have been a fan.

I like shooter games in general and Touhou's primary appeal is good music/solid mechanics. Graphics that I would charitably describe as charming. If you're asking what's the appeal of the genre, then I'd say it's the ability to pick up and play with very little time investment, and there's a lot of fun to be had in learning boss patterns and squeaking through a tough fight. It's not like a modern game where you have to watch an hour of boring story cutscenes and tutorials just to get to the first fight that's a total pushover. You start the game in 30 seconds and within 5 minutes you're fighting a boss.
