I hate it. I like vtubers because people play characters that set them apart from a faceless streamer with an avatar. It's why people like Pekora, Fubuki, Korone, etc are so great. I'm ok with other girls being less about characters and more goal driven e.g. Suisei's persuit of her dream is what makes her interesting.

That said I hate handcam streams since most of them are dull (unless you're Choco I'm not interested in seeing your cooking) and I hate the stupidity of seeing people wearing gloves to hide their hands. Hand cams should have interesting content and the vtuber should either use some AR stuff to make it look like their model is interacting with the world, or they could just cosplay. Or go gloveless if there is an interesting stream idea where you can't use gloves e.g. playing an instrument, and in some cases you can just cosplay that too.

I like it when people stay in character and in most cases there is no reason to show off their body. Polka skydiving and Miko's shrine visit are good examples of them interacting IRL and hiding their bodies to maintian kayfabe.

Yeah that is a good solution, poeple like Mika Pikazo (while not a Vtuber) do this, but I am personally more on the "breaks kayfabe too much" side, particularly when some of them are pretty much public figures as well as these characters

It's a dealbreaker to me to show your IRL self more than what is necessary. There are so many workarounds to whatever it is you're trying to accomplish by showing it, it's not that hard to keep a minimum level of kayfabe going on.
If I wanted to see 3DPD I'd watch fleshtubers.

From what I've seen it is usually just normal pictures or selfies or even street blogs, but just with the face hiding, I don't think there's any point to hide the face when you get that personal

It's a shame because those easily could be accomplished with the VTuber avatar. Street blogs could be like those edits of anime girls in real life, selfies are already kinda easy because a ton of VTubers already post pictures of their avatars with an extra static asset for more interest, etc.
It's not even that much extra effort.
There's also trends like "my vtuber self vs me in real life" where even if they don't take irl pictures of themselves they still do a picrew of how they look irl and I really hate it.

I recently got recommended a metal vtuber who ended up showing her face in her videos straight up. Why bother being a vtuber then? The entire point of being a vtuber is become a virtual being. If you drop that, you're not a vtuber. Simple as. These people are just clout chasers.

That's why Pekora is so great, she embodies the character so well that I can't even imagine her as a real human woman, I don't think I could ever see her as anything other than the peko rabbit. I really hate vtubers showing their irl faces and making a point that they are human too (I saw tons of this from EN vtubers) like we fuckin know dumbass we just want the illusion of having 2D characters interacting actively with us, play games we like and do karaoke. If you like posting your face might as well be a fleshtuber since the essence of being a vtuber is lost.

This is super cool.
As for me, it's not a dealbreaker, but somehow keeping the real-life and the character separate makes for a better story and product. It's not as if these people couldn't stream and/or comment on their roommate accounts separately.
Of course there's kson who makes no such distinction to begin with, and is popular. And everyone knew who Coco was. Same for Mori. Let them.
