Not really. Sometimes it's the typical "Japanese person can't handle atmospheric pressure changes" tweet every now and then and he collapsed from anemia once in late 2021, but other than that he's relatively healthy. I'm honestly starting to believe his depression is getting worse and severely affecting his goals for this year and content. The only thing I wish for is for him to avoid being so vague sometimes.

But basically I think parasocial relationships are honestly a really beautiful thing in certain circumstances. I was heavily influenced by a certain female vtuber who was incredibly enthusiastic about Japanese idols and idol culture to the point where I started researching it and reading about idols and I read a really lovely manga called Oshi No Ko and got kind of obsessed with it as well. I believe that parasocial relationships can be really helpful to certain people going though rough patches in their life. For most of my life I have suffered from intense depression, and now after to I somehow crawled out of that I want to help people who are in a similar difficult situation by bringing in what I hope is a little bit of joy in their life. It may sound odd, but I decided to become as close to an idol that I could become at this stage in my life. A vtuber.

I'm already a loner in my life and collabs don't really interest me that much (even having them with other guys is pretty rare). So choosing this path seems pretty natural, and if it hurts my growth in the long run so be it, I am dedicated to it. Even as small as I am right now, I love my viewers and fans really intensely and it has given me a lot of purpose in my life that I did not have ever before.

But putting the cold hard facts aside, I think these people understand that among all of the lonely and insecure people out there in the internet, some of them also happen to be women. And just like the men, they are beaten down by life and needed something to validate and uplift them, even something as silly as japanese cartoon boys.

As for the yabs, most vtubers tried to rationalize any backlash as the fans turning on them out of pure entitlement and antagonized their own fandom, but I think they come from a place of genuine hurt and misunderstanding (and in case of the ongoing Vesper yab, the widespread ignorance and lack of empathy for those suffering severe anxiety). the best way to solve the situation is to maintain open communication and try to understand why their yumes feel that way and come to a solid conclusion together.

Parasocialism is a tool: how good or bad it can be depends on how it's wielded, and I always find that people with emotional intelligence and maturity are the ones who can wield it best.

I'm so glad you mentioned this because I could talk about this passionately forever. The short is that I don't care, if people love you enough to give you something, you should give something back to them, even if they'll like you more.
Besides, with streaming, the relationship is collectively reciprocal, is asynchronously interactive, content is partially created by the audience (rather than being produced outside its direct contribution), and has no intermediary between the creator-consumer. An intermediary between the consumer and the creator is obviously not necessary for a relationship to be parasocial, but it's a pretty big indicator.
Therefore, it's just plainly inaccurate and immature to say that all streamer-viewer relationships are parasocial, when most aren't.
Most streamers simply lack the total absence (or near absence) of reciprocation required for a relationship to be parasocial. -- Although I'll admit for the non-critical aspects there can definitely be significant overlap between the two groups otherwise, some overlap less shallow and face-value than others, but this is why we have the term transparasocial.
