Can ENvtubers ever achieve the idol dream of becoming a successful singer or is the cultural divide too much of a hurdle to cross for them?

Not unless they exorcise themselves of the demon of progressivism and pledge themselves to the Patriarchy and can learn to at least play the role of a decent woman in a necessarily patriarchal society.

If they can't do that then they can't be anything like a proper Japanese idol, but it's cute to watch them try.

yes but it wont be the ones you expect, random indies are doing songs for indie games and they'll eventually become huge while the big corpo EN vtubers will be dragged down by their peers

successful in JP then? Because there are successful singers in EN

To do that they must first learn how to sing. All of HoloEN have untrained voices unfit to become a true vocalist. Maybe Irys is the closest to a model singer but even she has some ways to go.

American successful singers are very different from japanese idols. I don't think girl groups of the past exist in the same way either.

They need actual training to sing. They need to develop the skill to sing and song write. That takes literal years and the average vtuber career doesn't last long enough so unless they went in with those skills already developed they won't.
