no, in the first few steps it should have asked you to mount your google drive, and the next step would then open a file explorer from the collab. In step 3.3, if you're using drive/file explorer the training data directory would be "/content/fine_tune/train_data" presumably.

don't delete the model path (replace the name of the model with the one you've downloaded using the colab or uploaded yourself) use the same sort of directory but with the vae folder which should be downloaded if you selected it (it will be located in VAE folder instead of fine_tune)

About 2 weeks ago, I think maybe something related to the high res fix (but affects img2img too) made it so it uses noticeably more VRAM.
Running with Medvram is also far slower. I didn't note down numbers but I think it takes 2 to 3 times as long for the same size images.
I know this commit was still good:

I can on mdvram but it's excruciatingly slow.
I also think I can if I don't put in the argument for half vae, but that leads to relatively frequent random failures to generate. I haven't tested this very much though.

I used a shit ton of i2i on the following image, sorry for the low quality: https://litter.catbox.moe/vwxwnb.png

I then inpainted different sections of the image separately to get coherent boys, using mainly this prompt (depending on which section, I omitted the respective parts of the prompt)
masterpiece, best quality,( absurdres:1.2) (highres:1.2), 1girl, 5boys,
azki \(hololive\), hololive, bangs, purple eyes, [brown hair|purple hair], [multicolored hair|colored inner hair], sitting, smiling, skimpy clothing,
white shirt, sofa, (heart-shaped pupils, heart in eye), standing
These sections were then layered over in PS. Gradually upscaling the image also helped.

My "workflow" is as follows:
Once I have a prompt I am happy with I'll generate a good number of images (generally 4 to 16) at 512X768 to look for a good pose.
Then I will edit the image to get rid of any major mistakes, fix up colours and other simple stuff. No need to be too precise here.
I will use img2img to bring up this image to 768X1152, I will usually do 2 to 8 batches of this and pick the best one (or combine them).
Then I do a final quick manual edit to get rid of minor issues (random sweat drops, messy eyebrows, random malformed extra fingers, etc.).
And lastly I will img2img the image at low-ish denoising to 1024X1536 to get rid of any seams, fix up the details, etc.
Sometimes I'd do some things at this high resolution, such as in-painting the eyes back when we had the "inpaint at full resolution" option.
I never actually used hires fix.

Yeah, I just tried out your method with this image (other than the editing part lol) it seems like there is some bug in img2img upscale the one during hiresfix seems to keep Vram very low but doing it in IMG2IMG seems to double it (unless I am missing something about how hiresfix works lol).

That option is still there for in-paint, it's called "inpaint area: only masked", but if you do edits a lot I recommend the krita extension makes inpainting a lot easier, this one:

I've been reading the github issues, maybe the image previews are causing it?
I like them on image generation but they're less useful on img2img (especially the final low denoise step as it hardly ever fucks up).
If you have everything started up can you do a test with previews off and see if it improves?

Python itself was always installed for the rest of your system. What the venv does is let webui install all of the other stuff that it needs into its own little sandbox the venv, "virtual environment".
Running "pip install -r requirements_versions.txt" directly from a command line without first running venv\Scripts\activate.bat or .\venv\Scripts\activate.ps1 for powershell.exe or pwsh.exe did in fact install all the requirements that webui uses systemwide, which is why you "already have" torch, numpy, and safetensors when you're not using the venv.
looks like webui's default venv behavior was sloppy anyways, it copied all of my previously installed python stuff instead of starting with a clean venv...the blue one on the left is the one I set up to use prune.py - note torch 1.13.1 - the one in the black window on the left is the venv webui made for itself. sure hope it finds yt-dlp useful, kek

Normally web-ui.bat handles creating the venv, and "starting" it transparently.

What VAE are you using? The vae-ft-mse-840000-ema-pruned.ckpt tends to lead to a bit more sharpening and higher contrast. Using (worst quality, low quality:1.4) in negative also helps.

I dont think pruning intermediate products is worthwhile. It should only be done on the final step. The merge process itself will bump the model size up and doing a prune step inbetween feels detrimental even if the weights are close to 0.

If anyone wants a challenge, try making an actual proper full suit of armour. Like, with a helmet (visor up or down), body armour that isn't just shaped perfectly around their breasts, actual leg armour instead of bare legs, you know what I mean. I'm trying to generate images of specifically pregnant / hyperpregnant osakana nemu and alice sawyer, since they're both indies there aren't a whole lot of images to train an embed. I don't know if they're in any of the mixes but I highly doubt it. I haven't been here in admittedly a couple months which is basically 20 years in AI time, I had to look up what a Lora is but it seems like a dreambooth alternative so that's cool. Dear anon, I am starting to learn how to make LORAs but haven't got one yet. You can drastically improve your chances of having another anon make your LORA if you provide a dataset.
The TLDR is you pick about 30+ pictures of a character/concept and tag each picture with a text file (picture and text file should have the same name) that describes it for the AI to learn.
E.g. 1 girl, solo, nameofchar, whattheyarewearing, etc.
Doing that for your favourite character or your favourite concept (preggo) would work.
