I personally use clip studio paint already, so i felt less against the jump to including AI in my brainstorming phases and so on.

Art is a personal pursuit in the end, and the desire to create isn't fulfilled by an AI. For me personally, at least. We're always going to find people that "take shortcuts" compared to ourselves in our own minds. Is Photobashing cheating? no. it's a "different way to make art".

Ultimately, it's an artists choice if they wish to utilize something like AI within their toolset, and how they use it/to what extent is their choice too.

This one was a patchwork of different images which I've i2i'ed and then flicked together in PS, so no hires fix was involved. (I wanted an arabian terrorist guy, but that seems impossible with creamsicle).
In i2i there's the SD upscale in scripts which upscales subrectangles of your image, depending on the choice of width and height above. If your GPU can only handle 1000x700, use that as your patch size. The downside is that weird details can crop up, since some patches may not contain e.g. 1girl, so keep denoising strength lower than usual.

I cheated for money in The Sims. without cheats though, there was some exploit or glitch or something. Same thing more recently in BotW - maxed out the hearts and stamina and went and yoinked the Master Sword right away. clipped my way through the trial of the sword, which was arguably harder, for me, than just beating it outright. spent an hour dealing with game crashing levels of inventory overload while stealing the one hit...one shot....the stupid OHK/1HP weapon from the beginning of the DLC. waited until well into the post game to finally go and grab the Hylian Shield, AND save scummed while doing it, so I could get one with the best possible modifiers. then I duplicated it, put 3 on Link's wall, filled my inventory with them, saved, and kept duping them and taking selfies atop a pile of them until the game crashed to celebrate...

I'm not as knowledgeable about dreambooths as with LORAs, but extrapolating from other finetunes and dreambooths I've seen that aren't good, it could be a number of factors.

One possibility could be the tagging, there might be too many stray tags, in LORAs those absolutely fuck the model because training goes where it should not go. The effect should not be as pronounced for dreambooths, though, so either there's a TON of them (from deepdanbooru/wd1.4 tagger/or copied from the boorus directly, I see incorrect or spurious tags often) or the learning rate might be too high. Curating tags past 1000 input images is a painful thing, so maybe lowering learning rate by an unit or two can be an option.
Those things result in the model being difficult to control or displaying hints of overfitting when exaggerated.

Another possibility could be the quality of the fetish images affecting the general ability to recognize features. Think of how mixing gape60 with any model will result in...detrimental effects unless properly diluted. The AI learns in strange ways and it might be trying and failing to derive a style from them instead of just grabbing the poses and tagged details. A lot of porn happens to use more aggressive or "loose" styles, so it'd make sense in an aesthetic sort of way.
If regularization is being used, could be worth it giving the reg images a second look.
Anyway, those things result in strange anatomy or colors when exaggerated, or a lingering "off" style.

Training artists/styles inside a general model is a double-edged sword from what I've seen. It does very funny things to "neurons" such as "1girl" and tend to make the model user unfriendly since it requires the "glue" the artist tag provides and will become progressively worse without it as epochs go on. I honestly think that's the biggest issue at hand. I don't think it's a coincidence adding more artists lowered the quality.

Other than that I'm drawing blanks here without having more specific knowledge of HLL's finer details, but from my experiments the most probable culprits could be those. Of course, that's just my opinion, educated as it may be. HLLAnon is being very helpful and I don't feel I have the right to "tell him what to do", so I'll leave those merely as a thing to consider.

Ah yeah, I got pretty good at herding the AI over time. Not sure if being on CPU for a while made me craftier or what.

My method for this kinda stuff is:
- Prompt both characters somewhat separately (first describe one then the other). I specifically Okayu a bit thiccer so prompted accordingly.
- The first results will be gacha. You might get them fine with proper features and details on a first gen with or without high res fix. That one happened to be a single gen without edits or high res fix. If your pic is good, you are done.
If the picture happens to be a gestalt entity of the two, be amused and try again.
- If not, send it to inpaint and mask over one character, cut the other character from the prompt and process at "inpaint at full resolution", you should get proper accuracy then while preserving the pose. This fixes stuff like Korone with cat ears or Okayu with braids.
- Now do it for the other character.
- Correct anything via manual edits or inpaint, I've done it both ways (that's how I got accurate Sanas when all we had was my embed)
- Restore original prompt when satisfied, then do a final pass of DDIM, 10 steps, very very low denoise strength. That should hopefully iron out any irregularities, give it a try or two until satisfied.

I should add this kinda thing to my LORA rentry since you could technically do the same by hotswapping LORAs allowing you to do any weird character crossovers you can imagine. I'm working on the "how to make obscure characters" section during this week, so maybe I'll add these tricks to a subsection or start a separate rentry for it.

I agree with your suggestions. I would say biggest problem is data preparation. You can select 50 good images for lora and manually edit tags, but it's impossible to look through 200 000 images for finetuning and fix tags by hand.

I just used grabber to download images with booru tags. Useless tags like *commentary, absurdes, *translation* were removed. %character% was repeated twice to over-emphasize names.
I didn't consolidate tags (long hair, very long hair, black hair -> very long black hair), and didn't use wd tagger.
Might try it next time. I'd say about 5% of booru posts are not taged properly. Running wd tagger with ~0.6 min threshold and merging scraped tags with wd output may work.

Adding GOOD artists is not a problem. Problem is low quality shit in nsfw part.
For example i had tags like male_focus blacklisted and used sort:score (preferring high quality images) for hll1. It was ok.
hll2 was fucked due to resuming training and bad settings.
For hll3 i didn't use sort:score, i just had score:>10. I changed blacklist to download males, but forgot to change it back when downloading fetish tag. As a result dataset had shit like this - ["yaoi",1382],["bara",428] in it. Who knows what else in there.

Ah, thanks for the insight. Yeah that does seem consistent with my sciencing about tags. Seems the "tag contamination" from the NSFW part might be what's muddling things instead of the artists.
Few artists are fine (like under 100. I'm sure there's a proper ratio of pics to artists but I don't quite have hard numbers), although I've seen models where without a full dossier of artists in hand you can't generate anything but fleshbeasts with more arms than vedic deities.

Handling mass tagging is a special kind of hell. For a "small" experiment I used a few thousand and even with powerful homemade scripting the thing was nightmarish. Ironically I don't even use it anymore because I like the abyssorange base style better. Oh well.

After many attempts, I've noticed that the AI is seriously a lot better at handling bad images than at handling bad tags. I get ridiculously good and accurate results using input images that were basically crude chibis with poor detailing and the thing somehow manages to just absorb the features and be able to gen good stuff with normal proportions and coloring (even backgrounds!). Tagging also solves issues with the thing being overly insistent about forcing specific colors or placing ribbons or accessories when not appropriate and that stuff.

I never thought it'd be so important until I tested it myself.

pick one manually, don't turn it off. and then uncheck the box that says "ignore this for models that have one blah blah" because that also fucks up and turns it off. also try launching with "--no-half-vae" because if it runs out of VRAM while it's VAE-ing it just...stops using it and you get a desaturated image
