Celiac disease is 100% real. Wheat is also one of the most common allergens. White women being "sensitive" or "intolerant" to gluten is made up bullshit they do to feel special. The way Ame talks about her issues and the fact that Japanese gluten doesn't seem to bother her makes it very clear she is in the latter camp.

I wouldn't be surprised if her symptoms are actually real, just not caused by gluten. She said as recently as a few months ago that she still has not actually gone to a doctor to be tested and is still just assuming its gluten from a stupid self-diagnosis.
I'm mainly annoyed that she refuses to actually take care of herself and it negatively affects her job, particularly because its exactly what I did. I suffered for years with 'tummy hort' issues until it got bad enough that I had to see a doctor, and then a simple Crohn's diagnosis later and I had medication that completely fixed everything. Years of issues because I was too lazy and stubborn to just go to a doctor.
