I need to go to Japan and verify the Denny's quality over there because I have no problem whatsoever with the food at Denny's in America. You always know what you're getting when you're in the mood for it, but Kiara could very well just be a picky eater and that's why she thinks it's shit.

Fast food places use local ingredients, so yeah, American fast food is garbage.

Fast food is only bad in the States and Canada, sometimes in the UK. I've been in many places in Europe and fast food is more than fine. I don't think one can really judge US fast food unless you've actually been around and tried most of it, which suffice to say I don't think Kiara has. There are good and bad things on the menus at various places but also good and bad franchises, aka local versions of a place owned by some random local dude who runs it differently - some do it way better than the corpo standard, some way worse. In other words not all McDonald's are from McDonald's central HQ deciding one should be there.

Like, I don't recall because I just don't watch her, has Kiara ever had Chick fil A? Yes/no? I don't think she has, so she better shut her mouth about tiers of fastfood before having a spicy deluxe. It's literally non-jokingly several-times better than any BK or KFC chicken sandwich.

McDonald’s owns almost zero restaurant in EU, they’re all licensed and they’re still way better than the ones in US. Like it’s not even worth comparing.
For Burger King it’s like 50 50, some are own by HQ some are not. But in both case they’re incredibly better than in the US.

Fast-casual like Chipotle are the new "it's not fast food and not a fancy restaurant but is a chain" meta. Also doordash/ubereats has blurred the line further, even local burger places I go to it's like half the orders are ubereats drivers coming in picking shit up.

In Japan the whole family-restaurant/diner type thing is still alive and well it seems but not really so here. Stuff like Sizzler here? Went bankrupt in the 90s. Yet it's quite similar to what they still do a lot over there. That's.. kinda nice actually, fast food/fast casual just dominated over diners here generally, they usually don't get big enough to operate as chains anymore and are local mom and pop efforts. The only local one I went to was literally just drunk food with friends because it was across the street from a bar and stayed open late for our business. And guess what, even that one closed years back.

So to me it's kinda bittersweet seeing Japan have fun with this kind of idea still because we sort of don't really have it now. Of course their diners are better - we don't really do those anymore. Japan's Western tastes got picked up from like 1950s America which was at least as far as I can tell around the peak heyday of diners.

Why are you admitting you’ve never left the country on /vt/? KFC is better even in China than it is in the US. That American fast food chains are way less shitty abroad is common knowledge. Main exception being Taco Bell. It’s only a thing in a few large cities like Osaka and Shanghai, and they have a much smaller menu.

A lot of Americans that live in Europe talk about how much better the quality of McDonalds and KFC in Europe compared to America.
Taco Bell seemed to be the only exception, they've opened a few branches in London in recent years and apparently it's much worse.
