i also like the idea of wife's body slowly failing him while he's at the care of vox. the 'him' or possibly his human self is slowly being cut away as they athrophy. as his spine stops moving his lower half begins to fail. his stomach hollows, wife no longer can eat and has to take in food through iv or demon blood idk. and when even his lungs and heart begin to beat lesser and lesser vox knows he can't prolong this anymore and in the end he has to finally decide to let him go by killing his brother by strangling him. in his final moments, this is when wife is the most active. he struggles and twists about until he falls dead. as the throa2 breaks in his hands, wife's head half falls off and that's when vox gets the idea of harvesting and saving his brain.

But has anyone considered that Vox won't be the one left alone while everyone that he loves dies IF he commits suicide first so he doesn't have to live in a world without his boys
