2nd person is great to write in for atmosphere, but I always found it a pain to write in for anything longer than a novella. You can only write 'You' so much until it becomes grating.
At least with third person, you can switch the names around, and with first person you can always just start the sentence with another character instead of 'I'.

It's probably because as an ESL writing in second person was initially much easier to manage as far as keeping track of who is doing what in text versus third person where you have to think more carefully about how to properly chain the story's flow together so the reader doesn't get lost.

I can't believe I missed this, when was it even posted? A huge fan of these types of stories, and Ina is perfect for them. The idea of a greater being trapping you in a constant state of dreaming as you remember and try to break free each time has so much potential to be explored. I really liked the conversation with Ina on the rooftop, and although it works great as a short, seeing this expanded would be amazing. The story reminds me of Girl of Emptiness, despite the premise being somewhat different. There were frequent problems with verb tenses though, with sentences like:

making it hard to tell if the fic is in present or past tense. Other than that there aren't any glaring problems. Good shit, would recommend. Makes me wonder what other hidden gems there are in the archive that I've missed.

Changing from serial writing to releasing everything all at once changes a man anon.

The idea was the same but the plot changed a ton. Anon's relationship's with a lot of people were very different, as was a lot of events that would lead up to a different climax. Essentially he was gonna actively work to be a better chuuba and idol, only for his night job and past to keep coming back to bite him in the ass.

Temma was going to be in Mashiro's place, and he was orignally gonna be killing people who were committing copy-cat crimes of (You), leading to him trying to kill you before realizing your the real deal after you beat the shit out of him. Then you'd occasionally bump into each other while trying to help him curb his own mental illness(think all the Dark Knight Temma stuff)

Botan was gonna be someone you knew from your time in the military, and she'd figure out your secret pretty early and blame you for Polka starting to go down the same road as Temma, though Roundtail wouldn't know the truth, mainly because Botan remembers some of the awful shit you both did in the war and thinks you're both terrible people.

Kson was supposed to be much less interested in figuring out what was going on until Nazuna gets kidnapped(Which was actually not part of the bigger plot but just her having bad judgment in men. You kinda see why I'd drop that.) and the two of you happening to meet while raiding the same place that she was in, you going because a few of that guy's buddies had tried to break into one of Noel's apartments.

The boys were all gonna find out after Roberu happens to see you get unmasked during a fight(You'd be trying to help the only way you knew how after overhearing that Mea was being harassed), leading to a scene where they all confront you at your apartment after you panicked and stayed up for like an entire day just pointing a gun at your front door. THAT scene is the particular one I kinda wish to still write, but without all the build up to it I don't think it'd land just writing it outside of it all.

The climax would be a paramilitary squad crashing HoloFes that results in (You) killing them live, and sitting on stage admitting all your crimes as well as your suspicions and evidence of all the weird shit involving chuubas being harrased and what it may mean. It hits the news, the people responsible have you killed before you reach trial but because the public is so hyper focused on potential signs of fuckery, they hold off on doing what they used to do.

The actual ending would be Temma being in your apartment, looking through your shit and morosely talking to himself about how all your work and sacrifice probably only bought everybody a couple months of peace at best, only to have a schizo moment of his own involving him now having (You) as a voice in his head once he finds that rat mask and decides to pick up where you left off.

Obviously now that's all not gonna happen anymore, nowhere close, which is why I'm okay saying it.

For the thread. 2nd person enables me to cause the user to self-insert, while objectifying them or keeping the setting an important part of the story.
I will use first person for an intimate connection with the reader, but it's tricky to write for without preventing the reader from suspending disbelief, unless it's being used to tell a story from the POV of someone who isn't the reader, obviously.
Third person is for setting or plot pieces or multiple characters.

If you ever want to start a series that might hold your interest, I started mine by outlining a couple arcs worth of stuff, which ended up being 8 chapters worth at first, and then started writing. From there I just kept coming up with more ideas and adding more things I want to see happen as I write. It also helps that I enjoy the world I'm creating within this story and want to see it through to whatever end it has. The sky is never the limit when it comes to writing and the stories you want to create.
It's also okay if short stories are what you want to stick to, everyone's got a preference.
