Not sure if this is a newfag but this sounds passive aggressive. People have always found indies and other 2views and shared them here and checked them out. There have been boys that posted here hoping to be found by this thread and I respect them, but there have also been boys that just post their stream link and contribute nothing else to the thread hoping we watch them blindly. We've also been getting trolled by some 2views so you can't blame us for being wary. We're open to giving feedback to 2views who want to try catering to us but they also need to just lurk instead of asking us the same question over and over. I'm still putting together that guide on rentry but until it's finished they'll just have to do reps. I watch quite a few that often have either no or very few viewers. It can be a lot of work to find good ones. Many are just garbage really. But I if you find good ones, and there are plenty, entering their chat and seeing how much you just being there with them makes their day is really cute. It might not be for everyone, but watching small indies has pretty much replaced how I used to watch corporate vtubers. I watch Tempus boys nowadays. Tried to watch another Nijiguy, but they all have: either the same women problem (Luca, Mysta, Fulgur, Kyo) or just too aloof to their fanbases and not as close as how Vox is (Shu, Ike, literally everyone else). I think that fine line can be summed up as time. Hex is pretty much known as a discount Vox but one of the biggest differences between the two is the time in which they've done their fanservice. Vox may have always wanted to do some sort of BFE but he didn't start it off so strong. He just played games and did whatever, then he got encouraged by his fans to not be so shy about what he wants to do and felt more motivated by that. Trust was built between the oshi and the fan, so it felt more genuine. For Hex, he does have a fanbase that likes what he does but the reason why a lot of people, even kindred, say he feels fake and doesn't have a personality is because he started right off with the pet names, ASMR/date scenarios, and other BFE content almost immediately. It raises a red flag within people, especially women, because it feels forced and like there's an ulterior motives. We're big on consent so if you're going to strong on something it can feel uncomfortable. One person worded it well before: "it feels like someone asking for marriage before you go on your first date". If you're a male catering to a female fanbase people will make dumb shit up about you regardless, but it becomes easy to tell who's just a shitposter and who's genuine depending on how it's worded, so I wouldn't worry about that.

If you're worried about acting, then don't act. Both fujos and yumes don't need any of what Hex or Vox does to hook them. Being yourself is enough. Do what feels natural, then look to your audience for their reaction. If they say no, take it a step back. If they say yes keep going or if they want more, slowly and subtilely give them more (if you're comfortable). This is one thing I want to go over in more detail in the guide I'm typing up because it is a pretty gray and confusing area and there's a lot of nuance to be had.
