The shitty thing about starting as a male is that your most reliable source of potential viewers are females, however there are very few females who will give low view males a chance. Most male viewers are also like this, but even still almost the entire population of viewers who go out of their way to find and watch low view streamers are males. Females almost exclusively watch males with higher viewership levels, so a male like you having few to no viewers is basically going to be seen as proof that you are a boring and a bad streamer even if you aren't. Most people that look for and watch streamers with 0 viewers are males that either watch you because they are extremely lonely, or males that watch you out of pity (this set will include a lot of fellow 1 view streamers). The problem with both of these groups of people is that they wont tune in if you already have a few viewers watching you, so it starts to become very difficult to get higher levels of viewership. Once you get a decent number of followers, you might have maybe 20 different people willing to watch you at 1-3 ccv, but only 3 of those would be willing to watch you at 5 ccv and up. Its a really strange and annoying problem since the females you really need to actually begin to build a real audience who watches you for you only really start giving you a chance at 10 ccv and up.

My advice? Find a female space where you think there might be a potential audience to your content and shill yourself there while pretending to be a female. Short circuit the process and try to start off with a female audience from the beginning. Trust me, most of the males that follow and watch you now will not want to watch you as your ccv grows. Its mostly a waste of time going after that crowd.

Now that I live in my own place and I finally have a proper Internet connection again, I can not only go back to streaming, but also stream more often than what I did two months. Having streamed for three times per week (at best) back in October and November, I will aim to stream five times per week now.

Hello /asp/! Could any of you give me an opinion on my voice/accent for streaming? In the past few weeks I've been thinking on getting into more & more, & made up a couple ideas for a png model to stream with first to see if I enjoy streaming or not.
Some of my friends described it as engaging/relaxing, although obviously they're more used to hearing it in different contexts.
Also, Like is a common enough filler word where I'm from & I'm also wondering is it as annoying as it is in the American Valley Girl accent?

You have a nice voice, but in most of the second recording your voice sounds thinner and more casual than the first one because I think you're not speaking from your diaphragm and only from your throat.
The first one sounds fuller because of chest resonance but it's a soft voice that wouldn't be heard 5 metres away. If you want to be a chill chuuba, the first voice sounds better.
As for voice reps, they help me to reduce my accent as an ESL and also to develop muscle memory for an optimum voice that sounds best on record as a character, not too nasal and thin, not pulling my chest voice too much, etc

I would put up the pdf of the book on screen and would read along, trying to be as eloquent as I can.

I no longer aspire. Vtubing seems more and more pointless over time, there's no reason not to just be a normal streamer if you're a man. The vtuber avatar can work to get eyes on you, but upon any potential growth happening, you could just drop it and be a normal streamer, maybe even a no-cam streamer. No one is doing anything cool with these expensive puppets anyway, vtubers are literally just normal streamers. It defeats the fucking purpose of using an avatar to begin with. So as a guy? starting from zero, and trying to be a vtuber? nah man, I just don't see it. Neither the indie guys or corpo guys do anything different, shit is stale, it all blends in. I'm officially abandoning the pursuit of it. Depends on what you are doing. doing zatsu? You can take most of if not all of the screen. Playing a game? Take up as much as you can without getting in the way of important elements of the game, and you might be need to get creative with positioning. I only use an overlay when I can't fit myself properly on the screen, but some people use it for everything.
