a positive correlation is a positive correlation though, they're not *not* correlated and they're not anticorrelated or negatively correlated either.

A big part of why the correlation seems so small is indeed that the variance can be explained by some really obvious other factors, like DDs and the holo "floor" and the fact that different holos have been around for different amounts of time and as such have enjoyed being around during boomtimes that other holos weren't around for to boost their numbers.

Some other options for alternative variables to plot that might ameliorate some of these forts of problems would be taking (as I initially suggested) subgrowth over 2022 rather than just total subs, especially since that's how the conversation started anyway.

But there are lots of cool things someone could try to look at as well. Like I wonder how subs/days-since-debut is correlated with 2022 ccv median, or subs over x number with 2022 ccv median (to correct for the holofloor).

Kiara already talked about some problems with A-chan after she did that instagram interview, although it sounded like some generic menhera stuff she also discussed with Ame during the Rust arc so it's not really clear what it was about.
