While I can understand most people dismissing golden era Cartoon Network shows as just kids shows, as I grew up I ended up appreciating those shows more and more, not out of nostalgia, but simply by comparing it to modern more "adult shows". There is so much shit nowadays, terrible scripts, disappointing plot lines, and yet, in under 10 min, shows like Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack or the clone wars can establish so much and have a narrative, theme, tone and world building that mogs 95% of these more adult shows.
Gendy Tartakovsky is amazing, doing kids cartoons was the only way he had at the time to convey his art.
