Depends on how hard the sci-fi in your story is. If you're writing really hard sci-fi, get down to the nitty-gritty details. If you're writing rather soft sci-fi, summarize it because the science is only there to help the plot in some way (and your readers won't think too much about it).
Still helps to know a thing or two about the sciency stuff you're putting in there regardless. Knowing more about the subject you're writing always leads to more concise prose.

So the first operation is division (division always goes before subtraction and addition by international standard): 3 divided by 1/3 equals 9 - dividing by one third is equal to multiplying by three.
That leaves 9-9+1=1.

Imaginary numbers are what happens when you try and find the square root of a negative number. The square root of 4 is 2 because 2*2=4, but if you try to do the same with -4 there's no result because -2*-2=4. Imaginary numbers fill that gap: 2i*2i=-4. Thus equations unsolvable with real numbers become solvable.

Depends how you define "love". Obviously no one in fourth grade knows what love can truly be, just what their idea of it is, and even then, they might just be in love with the idea of being in love with a person.
You can use the spanning timeframe to demonstrate how that person's perception of love changed overtime and grew into something actual and meaningful.
You can easily say that someone would feel attached or drawn to a person since that age though.

Anon seems to be an attention-starved teenage girl as well. Very cool.
Besides that, the plot was fine imo. Polkas introduction maybe seemed a bit too comedic for the serious tone you set before and her appearance on the roof could’ve been set up a bit better. Like having anon come back to the roof the next day, secretly hoping suisei’s there again only to find Polka or something.
It’s a good story for people who like this kind of genre, I’d say. Don’t know if I’ll keep up with it, maybe if it turns out Anon triple backflips off the HQ after all - god knows he doesn’t deserve to hook back up with his ex.

I've done it both ways, but the key to me is in the execution. To me, there's an expectation that you will do "something" with Holomems, whether it's that they show up for one scene or if they are just there as a wink and a nod or are a major character, but that needs to be communicated and established. The scene in question IMO, doesn't. Are they just coworkers? wingmen? love rivals? It's not clear. That could be due to the fact that it's just chapter one, but it's worth pointing out. But I agree overall, I would rather use Holomem where it makes sense than restore to an OC.

And for what it's worth, as much as a bro Mark is in Our Cures, I see what you mean by how it's a bit missed opportunity to not have him be a Holomem.

Ugh, I'm not sure why but the prose feels really janky to me. Maybe it's the overuse of You as a sentence starter? The dialogue is pretty good and holds up the parts where he's with other people but the segments where he's alone and just monologuing feel clunky.
Other than that I like the concept and hope we'll see more. Though I do think you should see about cleaning up the first part a bit more, I think the 'roughness' of that makes a really bad first impression for the fic.
