This is entirely an unverified thing that goes around here. First company taxes for Google/Youtube are taken out, Youtube takes 30% of the remainder and the rest is up in the air. Cover taking 50% on top of that is functionally just a rrat which is loosely based on talents implying only about 50% gets to them, which would imply they take only 15-20%. None of us have their contracts or even know if they're case by case contracts, or if there's something like sales incentives where they get a higher cut dependent on performance.
With that said, why do people do it? I don't really but I understand it where you can almost get an immediate response or message across to the talent and have a higher likelihood of responding. That kind of motivation can be silly like asking for a happy birthday or something or by just trying to convey that you appreciate them in whatever way you do.

Do you reps and watch some vods, they're not at all the same. Ina flat out refuses to read SC. Gura has read dozens and dozens of hours of SCs. She didn't do it consistently, but at least she tried. She'd end most streams with 30-45 min of SC reading and go over the pinks and reds at least.

I used to do that but i stopped after seeing another user do the same thing that i did. That user helped me realize how annoying and cringy i was to my oshi.
Nowadays i only send SC is at the end of the stream where i just thank my oshi for streaming. Basically treating it as a tip for their effort.
