Mostly because the women either dumb down the quality of the content, or try so fucking hard to be entertaining that they become cringe. None of the cross collabs have them going into tangents on how to keep a kidnapping victim alive in your basement, or have Magni go on a 15 minute tangent about the next generation of vtubers being pasta mafia themed.

Boomer vs Zoomer was an actual good idea for a stream that couldn't have been done with any other current members, perfect example of the kind of collab worth mixing hololive and stars for. If the collabs were rare but of that level of quality and uniqueness, you would notice even so called "unicorns" not complaining nearly as much. Astroneer/Worms/Mario party and the upcoming monopoly collab are just streams that would have been more enjoyable for the majority of the respective audiences as all female or all male though.

Didn't watch that one but I will take your word for it, padding the numbers doesn't really seem like a good enough reason generally though. I am not opposed to the occasional collab but considering the audience overlap is not there (especially for some of the girls) there has to be a good reason - Boomer vs Zoomer, therapy session, the Magni commission series, some theoretical guest appearance in a podcast or talk show all seem justified.

Random gaming collabs less so, this monopoly collab could have had Ina, who has just got back to streaming and has good banter with Kronii, along with any other council girl perhaps IRyS and it would have been a must watch stream for hololive fans, as it is - a lot of people are just going to skip it. I imagine watching tempus bicker over monopoly would be more fun for /MANS/ than dealing with Mori too. I just don't see the point in doing coed collabs for streams like that - keep it to special occasions and actually go and watch niji if you want the bread and butter streams to be mixed gender.

It's kind of dumbfounding now to ponder just how much infighting they were willing to spawn and willful ignorance of what made Hololive great, just what some of the girls gave up, for the sake of forcing in these dudes with some hypocritical call of "unity", a term that got totally bastardized.
