Now that this catalog is here talking about vtubers being parasocial to their audience, I wanna asks: can some of you explain how to know when a vtuber is being parasocial to their audience? What are the hints they drop and what are the common reason(s) why they are attracted to them. Caus honestly I don't really get it how, why and when. Im well aware I'm unlovable af but if I'm not then maybe I'm missing the fact that the vtuber I like is liking me back parasocially.

The lines can get blurred, but the one time I’ve actually seen it and had no doubt it was happening was in Miori Celesta’s streams. In this case, the context is that Mio is one of those high-achieving girls with strict Asian parents who’s affection starved and wants affirmation that it’s ok to be a degenerate coomer weeb.
The first time I tuned into a stream, I saw her blowing kisses to superchats. Normally, as someone who can’t stomach GFE, I usually think “wow, that’s pandering behavior. Nice job milking the paypigs.” But in this case, it didn’t come off like that. She really sounded like she enjoyed doing that and enjoyed having chat tell her how much in love with her they are despite how low of an opinion she appears to have of herself.
Frankly, I think that’s what to look for if you’re wondering if a vtuber is parasocial with her chat. People who are high-achieving and have their shit together but don’t think they do. The kinds of people who have to resort to vtubing to talk about it because they know no one will take a pretty girl with good grades seriously when she says she hates herself otherwise.

Streamers are more likely to be parasocial than not. Otherwise they would strictly just be someone who comes on stream, plays game and leaves. No zatsus, no SC thanking, no updates on Twitter about stuff other than when is next stream.
