Kiara regularly does 5 hours+ chats with 4-5k viewers, that's a big chunk of hours. Korone's insane 24 hour streams will be big bumps but to get numbers as big as people like Valkyrae you kinda need to just wake up, start stream, play games for 10 hours every day.

Pokimane is a variety streamer with most of her roots in League of Legends and later Fortnite.. Her content isn't terrible, and she's legit and not a 'titty streamer' but her looks do carry her a fair amount.

Generally the asian streamer way is less about reaction content and simply playing games, and more about putting effort into providing entertainment, even if its during let's plays they'll try to interject with anecdotes or build a rapport with their chat without relying on memes and cringe twitch culture.

Those don't really reflect the streamers. Many clips are made by coomers, so you get a shitton of dumb coomer bait. Professional vtubers (good ones) are often all around entertainers who are good conversationalists, are decent at video games, decent at singing, arts, something.

A good example is Marine, who is one of the most annoying coomer baiters, but is also genuinely good at arts and a joy to listen to talk about whatever. She's also amazingly fun when she collabs with other people. The kind of person who most everyone has a good time with.

But that doesn't translate well into youtube clips, so you get "overseas sexy guys" and "I'm horny" ad infinitum.

Most of the JP vtubers people think "how the fuck does she make so much money despite having mediocre subscribers and no clips" are simply really good entertainers in the classical sense of "sit next to someone and have a good time".

Many top EN streamers are just boring to me. I don't even hate them, I just can't begin to care and they don't seem to be good at anything in particular.

Japanese comedy usually relies on absurd anecdotes or two-person situational comedy, which I think a lot of holojp achieves.

Ai-chan too, definitely follows the typical type of japanese variety entertainment you find on tv.

Generally I think that takes a lot more talent, both in terms of planning but also on-the-fly thinking and charisma.

Stuff that someone like Pokimane doesn't have at all. Which is why I'm confused as to how she has so many fans.
