You guys need to learn japanese. You are missing out on so much by relying on chink/SEA translators to understand your chuuba. Besides, the vocab required to parse 90% of a typical stream is part of the first few hundred words you learn. If you had started studying japanese ever since you first watched your favorite then you'd be more or less at a decent level by now.

My time is actually valuable so spending it learning another language has to actually translate to more dollars than I get just for getting out of bed in the morning

kind of OT but
i've been studying japanese as a hobby on my own for a while, but i've recently enrolled in a japanese intro class for general education credits

it's full of whiny normies that complain about getting 5 kana a day to memorize and cry that 'it's too much work for a 4-unit class'
sitting in the class everyday makes me want to rope myself

please give me strength to get through this class

I wish you luck, chief. I can't say I have the same problem as you do. The main thing that grates on me is the dogshit pronunciation.

They pronounce certain phrases as badly as Brad Pitt in Inglourious Basterds but my wholesome professor goes "haha bery niceu sounds perfect!"

It really, really isn't. They say it's the first 2000 but even that isn't nearly enough, unless you just want to understand basic introductions and don't care about understanding their jokes and references.

Slowly getting there. Learning for around a year, can understand some stuff myself unless they are talking too fast, but man kanji filters me a bit. I tried to learn them by radicals but it doesn't really make it for me so nowdays I mostly just google translate kanji I don't understand and memorize it on the go.

I've been using one of those rollover dictionary apps. It's useful but god does it make it hard to care enough to do my actual kanji reps when I can just use that.

I'm ESL and learning one more language is beyond my brain capacity. My English is bad enough already. I will never be Japanese, I will never be fluent in Japanese, I will never live in Japan, and a one week vacation couple of times in your life does not justify years of practice. Learning language to understand a girl on the internet pretending (or not even pretending) that she is retard? I can see that without any translation and enjoy it.
Learning English is one thing, everyone except EOPs pretty much have to do it if they don't want to live like a cripple, there is no excuse not to do it. But for Japanese, you either have to have serious plans to work in Japan, or be an autist who crams kanji for fun.

If I was enma or whoever is actually in charge I'd make it part of their contract to get N4 or N3 by the end of their contract year. N4 is completely doable in 6 months at a leisurely pace.
The only one that has a job is Ina and shes a freelance illustrator. They do jack all day.
