Mahjong is a pretty good game to play alongside streams.

is it just her and Kotoka from EN?
i have no faith in either unless they completely luckshit
do they have good experience in riichi? who are the actual favorites here?

I don't think Kotoka has revealed how good she is. Elira is I think Adept II on Mahjong Soul and plays it casually on off after picking it up from watching vtubers prior to debut. Luis Cami in group F I think she is supposed to be the best one in Nijisanji at the game. I think Mirei, Amamiya, Maimoto and Joe are all decent too. I don't really have an extensive knowledge of everyone there though those ones are the ones that usually get regular sponsorship for Mahjong Soul related stuff I think.

There is no competition because there are not many good mahjong players in the hololive. To begin with, MJ is not a popular game in Japan, so it is only a debuff. If you want to watch mahjong competitions, it is normal to watch Niji Sanji rather than Hololive.

There's lots of really good players but three of them all ended up in the same group (Group R) meaning there's going to be a lot of upsets early on. Yashiro was seeded meaning he isn't playing the first round at all and can't shit on anyone.

The favourites are probably Shiishii, Maimoto, Yashiro, Luis and Noraneko, then whoever out of Gundou, Ritsukin and Amamya make it out the last group.

Elira and Kotoka's groups don't have any crazy players so they might be able to advance at least a little bit.

Everything about Japan up until the Meiji Restoration is Chinese knockoff shit. Everything since is American knockoff shit (even worse).

Think Luis, Yashiro, Maimoto, Joe, Gundou, and Amamiya are notable.

Amamiya isn't as good as the others but she's had coaching from a pro mahjong player.

Damn, I had no idea. She's probably the one I watch the most of out of the players mentioned so I'll try to catch her games.

nijisanji has a lot of rosters to do great collabs with, I enjoyed watching them even though I didn't watch every chuba involved in that event
nijisanji understand what they have, so every nijisanji event will only make the name of nijisanji big but not for those who participate
that's not wrong but seem morally wrong

Riichi Mahjong is relatively widely played, as far as niche hobbies go. There is a pretty popular mobile game called Mahjong soul from the developers of Arknights and Azur Lane. I see people playing it on the train decently often. Mahjong is pretty fun once you learn the rules, give it a try
