Honestly, the actual quality of writing has not dropped from back when it didn't have the NSFW filter (this is coming from someone who was "there" since around day 3 or so) and i wish people should stop exagerating and saying the "intelect" of the characters has dropped when it clearly didn't just to generate more backlash since this stops us from focusing on the real issues, but i do agree that it's a dumb and frankly unnecesary filter that treats it's consumers like children needing to be protected.

The question isn't about getting to use character.ai for free - it's a pretty good product given i don't have to pay for it, not even in the form of ads. The question is how long this will last until it gets slapped with a paywall without solving these issues like it happened with AI Dungeon. Luckily, they will make an alternative for it just like Stable Diffusion did for Dall-E.

That message was copy pasted. Devs posted it yesterday for a couple of minutes but then erased it. Around that time, the writing animation had its speed genuinely double, AI was allowed to write so fast the filter had troubles (lewd messages passed the control and gynecologist words passed). They noticed it and silently shut it down, to hours later get the same official message posted again, and maybe that “fix” is what generated all these issues today.

You all maybe missed it because you needed to refresh the page to see the changes, just like with every other update.
