Hi!! The first thing that came to mind is that it’s possible that you may just be shaving too quickly and giving yourself razor burn; I have olive skin and I notice it on my legs if I’m kinda in a rush and shave super quickly. It leaves little red streaks on my legs. What you might want to try is washing your face before you shave rather than after so you don’t irritate your pores after shaving— I’d recommend a gentle, sensitive skin/unscented soap like Dove, shaving with shaving cream (I use Pure Silk sensitive skin, I’m not really familiar with more masculine shaving creams so I can’t suggest anything there but Pure Silk is great) and taking it really slow. Afterwards, I would definitely avoid aftershave or any other astringent like toners or alcohol rubs because those dry out your skin and irritate it, especially if you already have sensitive skin. Rinse off the shaving cream/hair with cold water and pat dry (don’t rub) with a wash cloth and be sure to moisturize after everything’s done. Moisturizing is definitely the most important step of any skincare routine imo— I like Pond’s cold cream moisturizer!

basically said it all already, I'm not a professional so take my advice with a grain of salt but I use hair removal cream and I find that I gives me less ingrown hair and I'm also less red. If you have sensitive skin the chemicals in it is probably not good for you though.

That’s definitely a possibility, especially if you’re using those harsher products like astringents. Really I think just about anyone could benefit from cutting astringents ie toners out of their skincare routine unless they’re super worried about oil or sebum, but that doesn’t sound like something you’re concerned. Definitely try avoiding skincare after you shave— I would only moisturize— and do skincare before you shave instead.

Use oil-free moisturizer! Sometimes people think that skipping moisturizer may help because they think it’ll make them oiler, but on the contrary skipping moisturizing may only be making your oily skin worse because your body’s trying to overcompensate for perceived dryness. Don’t be too harsh with washing your face because again your skin might be reacting adversely and overcompensating by producing more oil.
