Eventually every content creator has to make the hard realization that no matter how much work and perfectionism you put into a product it's never a guarantee or even a buff to its popularity. The joke post you made in 1 hour WILL blow up and your magnum opus that took 3 months WILL get ignored and there's nothing you can do about it. It's not fair but it literally can't be helped, but it still hurts their pride and confidence.

For the technically complex and difficult song you're proud of finally putting together, your audience has no idea that it was a significant achievement (partly because you make it look easy thanks to your skill). The audience only hears "nice song, kinda boring but earnest and nice". If you want your effort to dictate your results you have to put that effort into understanding your audience and how to manipulate that audience.

Rule of thumb is that most people don't know what aspects of singing are actually difficult. And my opinion is that most of the audience for vtubers has shit taste in music anyway because they like overproduced Jpop with vocals that sound like they were squeezed out of the singer through a throat held in a vice grip.
She's versatile and has good vocal technique which won't really impressive people who don't know how difficult both of those are.

I definitely agree. Luckily I think small corpos and indies are definitely at an advantage when it comes to this kind of thing for a few reasons, so finding stuff that deviates from the norm is a lot easier than it is with the big corpos. Most of my favourite vtuber music content has come from them.

As far as I know the company's cut has never been disclosed (I've seen people say that Yuuna or one of the other former talents mentioned it, but I'm pretty sure if they had then it wouldn't have slipped under the radar), and if it were actually as high as 70% then I don't think anybody would ever have joined the company in the first place because that'd be an absolutely insane amount, even for a company that provides top-tier talent support (which Tsunderia definitely isn't).
