Before you call me a Nijinig I can guarantee you that I hate 99% of NijiEN and only ever watched a couple of Selen streams. Cover doesn't know what quality is even if it had a huge sign over it. They managed to hire only the most retarded staff members for HoloEN that trashed the entire branch with their incompetence. There's no cool projects coming from them, other than the obvious Vsinger Mori is the only one pushing for the music side but she's spamming a bunch of low quality albums and big group collabs are almost impossible because of timezones and overall disinterest from most of them, and the worst part is that they decided to dedicate the entire year 2022 to a bunch of Twitch-streamers wannabes. There's no quality on HoloEN because no one working on it gives a shit about quality, and if we don't hear abut EN3 in March during the HoloExpo it's stupidly likely that we'll only see them in fucking October, 26 months after Council's debut, and who knows who the hell Cover managed to hire when everyone else is going to the dozens of EN agencies that are much more proactive than Cover.

I dunno man, I watched that collab between Ame, Mumei, and Selen. The sheer difference in charisma between Selen and the other two was massive. It was actually kind of embarassing. tbf, there's just as much mid- and shit-tier girls in the smallcorpos, the issue is rather that there's so many smallcorpos nowadays that a viewer can easily assemble a subscription stable of over a dozen girls or more (so more than HoloEN easily, which on paper has 10 girls, but half of them don't stream, and you only really like 2 or 3 of them actually anyway, if you're honest about it) if you just pick the 2-3 "best" ones (i.e. the ones you like the most) from each of the smallcorpos+indies that can easily rival or beat the HoloEN girls in objective "quality" (= you actually enjoy watching them). Then over time I woke up and got honest with myself, I wasn't enjoying the HoloEN girls as much anymore, for a variety of reasons (some just because they became stale, coasting, entitled, impersonal, others because they just didn't fucking stream) and found myself more and more drifting over to watch other smaller vtubers which I enjoyed much more (ironically, many of whom still have that engaged, gratious attitude that was so charming about HoloEN at the start but they've since long lost)

I think the thing that always appeals to me about corporate over indie is you can be there for the entire journey. Most indies have already been at it for years to reach a point where they become noticeable in the wider community. You've already missed out on watching their growth from nothing to what is probably going to be the pinnacle of their career. You weren't there and you can never change that. With a corporation you get this personality dumped on your lap who you can follow from day 1 on their entire journey through out their career and be there for all their milestones, watch them grow as a streamer and achieve all sorts of things for the first time.

It did use to be much worse than it is now. People used to spend all day arguing about the same 2 things for months on end after the males just released. It was arguing about Luxiem getting favouritism and people baiting the girls fans with arguments about shipping all day long.

We must be watching different companies then because I can say with certainty that what has come out from the Hololive EN branch this past year has been anything but quality.

EN essentially has 2 people right now; Kiara and Fauna. The quality of their content is also very mid and niche at best.

It's kinda working tho. The only thing keeping HoloEN afloat is how their biggest names are still there, but the moment a single Myth member leaves the house of cards will fall apart and will lead to more graduations, while the people in charge are completely blind to this and still believe they're miles above everyone else. Now in NijiEN's case with 32 members a few graduations won't hurt as bad, even if they're a popular one. In 2 years some of the most popular NijiJP members graduated almost in sequence and the branch is still alive, still kicking and still has a lot of other very popular members, so buying too hard into the quality over quantity bullshit can not only get you so far.
