100% agree. Clip Studio Paint is just becoming more and more pozzed every single update and it's obvious theyre gonna go full subscription mode next year. They're even now introducing a new AI tool. Krita is based for the fact that they're constantly improving around areas similar to 3D blender and it's creators aren't stubborn spergs like from Gimp

Kizuna Ai's early vids. I was boots-on-the-ground back in the day, but I fell off when Youtube stopped allowing fan captions (and the sketch youtubers got stale). I came back on the train with Miko saying nigga, although I didn't really watch streams actively until seeing some of Hana and HoloEN happening.

My biggest gripe with the GIMP is its horrible UI.
Try to figure out how to draw a perfect filled-in circle with a border in the GIMP without looking it up.

I'm pretty old school I guess.
I was one of the first 10k subs to Kizuna but I didn't watch vtubers beyond the first few months of her.
I used to follow a lot of utaite on NND back in the early 10s. I've known IRyS for a decade.
Back in mid 2019 one of my favorite utaite Kano became a vtuber and I started following all sorts of vtubers after that.
Sadly my one true oshi utaite never became a vtuber :c

Vtubing was rather obscure after Kizuna lost popularity. I considered myself pretty into the japanese internet culture scene and live streaming vtubers were not that popular at all. It was still pretty much pngtubers until nijisanji started becoming somewhat popular.

I had heard about vtubers because of the taiwan thing and thought it was based but I didn't think I would enjoy watching Japanese girls very much, my experience up to that point was that Japanese girls are physically cute but quiet and boring to the point of seeming mentally vacant.
I had not finished playing Doom 2016, got it on sale and I guess after listening to one of the songs and with the previous video I watched about vtuber drama I was recommended

If it was any other clip I likely wouldn't have watched it but it was short and I don't remember why exactly but I needed to kill a few minutes.
I ended up watching over an hour of Doom clips from Korone.
After that I checked out all the important clips; matsuri bandaids, haachama feet etc etc and that was enough to give watching HoloEN a try.
It was early HoloEN so it was enjoyable.
It didn't take me long to focus on JP though as they streamed various types of content pretty much all hours of the day.
I got into my oshi Aki because I thought watching Death Stranding at 4am would be a good way to fall asleep.

i'd probably use flash CS5 for animation roughs, then do the cleanups in Krita/CSP. it's probably more efficient that way. then use Da Vinci Resolve for post-prod.
