Hi anons! What is your stance on stream overlays? I personally prefer seeing the game in full but some of them look really cute and i was wondering if i should commission an overlay, does that make a stream more interesting to you? Or would commissioning or making your own custom chat-appearance be better? (You know, these coded chats with their own custom fonts etc!)
Note: i am a pngchubua, or more like apng...one? I traditionally drew a mouth and eye animation for my avatar, too broke to have a rigging let alone commission a model so i am getting by. Had a cheap 20€ webcam but it broke in 6 months of usage when i had my old l2d. I dunno if this computer will even handle the vtube studio at the moment.

A overlay helps the vtuber model not cover the game, which is great. I feel like a lot of features like "last sub" and so are really extra though, I never use them anyways.

Assuming you're talking aesthetics:
look at the chuubas you like, see what they do. write down what you think works, what doesn't etc.
actually even better than that, try to find some free ones online. I know a lot of people make ones anybody can use, if not for free then for dirt cheap on places like fiverr booth etc.
Basically, when time comes to make/commission your own, you want to know the vibe you want out of it and how it'll work for your screen. So it's a lot better to do your own research into the subject and come to your own conclusions, and only then ask other people what they prefer as a second opinion.

If you just mean like basic layout then pic related is tried and true and really not worth deviating from unless you have a good reason.
