Is -f bv+ba even needed on YouTube or is it more used on other sites? The times I've used this command, I end up with the same exact video. I've tested this across >100 videos on a single channel and got the same result on each video.

It prevents it from downloading a combined format (unless that is all that is available), which is only ever a problem on very new non-livestream videos that are uploaded in exactly 360p or 720p
Other than that very specific circumstance, it is identical to not specifying format at all

I know it's not the same thing since they aren't streaming, but there is a Twitter you can follow. If you are just interested in their activities and to see if they do start streaming again in the future maybe they would leave a hint there.
