A catalog bait thread I actually agree with, she didn't address why the fuck she couldn't send a single tweet or post even once to the community tab over three weeks. I hope her medical issues are not actually serious but considering she wheeled them out along with two other excuses I am inclined to think she is just using it as a smokescreen.

She said she would talk about it again because it didn't make any sense even to her??
I guess I will wait for the next stream and see if she actually follows up on that, though I doubt it. I was ready to forgive the lack of communication if she had been in Japan or busy with projects, my bar was pretty low honestly I was looking for any reason to explain why she didn't bother to take one minute out of almost three weeks to update us but pc hort and I cooked a turkey somehow is not cutting it.

If she needs this many breaks for this long, she needs way more to not be burnt out. She actually needs to go on hiatus or something. I imagine she’d never admit to feeling burnt out even if it’s true because a lot of chumbuds might interpret that as “graduation incoming” and actually prepare to leave.
Full disclosure: I don’t watch Gura, so I don’t care on a personal level. Still, she’s been saying she’ll try to stream more repeatedly (I know this just from threadwatching, that’s how often people have talked about it), and hasn’t delivered. I want her to recline, just because I don’t want any other vtubers to think they can take constant breaks like this and be secretive about it without their channel suffering.

I would have said it makes sense she takes a little sabbatical or something; people working at a quote-on-quote real job aka office job etc with PTOs, usually that is like 1-2 weeks a year. So if you mostly didn't use it for 2 years you might do a couple-weeks vacation eventually. Sure.

But the thing is, Gura has done that like .. 4-5 times this year already it feels like. So I wouldn't be like "sure just go take a break grombus even though you were gone for like 3 weeks just now" etc.

The karaoke was amazing and the retarded she was on drugs rrats are just that. But yeah it did seem like she was signposting that she is going to have a second go around on the excuses because she can't justify it.

I know she has said she disconnects from hololive when she is not streaming before, but this latest arc really throws it into sharp relief that it is not just a healthy work/life separation but an entire bunker when she is not active, I don't know if she does it for her own mental health or really what the reason is, but the very fact she seems to need to disentangle herself so strongly from her fans when she is not streaming hurts.

Ok well I do watch her, since day 1. And I've watched many chuubas over the years. Gura taking as many breaks as she needs is 100x better than watching my oshi stop streaming. There are so many people I've watched who are fucking actually gone, including deleted channels of chuubas I spent hundreds of hours watching. If she is going to be a lifelong member of holo pro, none of this short term shit matters to me. Take the time you need, stream when you feel up to it, and don't ever graduate until you retire from the industry.

What makes all of this whole thing so fucking actually-toxic, is that there is an unspoken incentive for some of the fans to try to one-up the other fans if they see the chance, to try to elevate their status/position/get noticed by their oshi. In which case, they think they'll be liked more by their oshi if they're a pure yesman and shit on any non-yesmen to elevate themselves over them. They want to be front of the pecking order. This also explains shit like Ayame or Rushia.

So, there is incentive for some chumbuds to be yesmen and do everything they can to try to validate Gura no matter how fucking stupid and irrational it is, because in their minds they're winning if they're the last one left anyway, as opposed to actually-being a loser for sticking with an oshi 99% of everyone else thinks went to shit and ditched. They think, it's at this point, they win the game basically. But they don't. They just get either a polite "thank you for supporting me" before the girl quits or worse the girl will finally take off the mask when it doesn't matter anymore and humiliate that last mega-ultra-simp (happens with twitch thots etc).

>> No.38188223

I completely agree with this but still wish those breaks came with updates showing some level of concern for her fans who might be wondering what is going on.
I don't expect her to treat her community page like a diary like Ame does, I respect that she is a different person who really values her private life and its separation from her job, I still think it is reasonable to not be left in the dark as often as we are.

cont.
So, the way fanbases go, can evolve in two routes:

>a.)
The fans enable the girl to get worse and worse because enough of them think it's beneficial to be a visible, loud white knight defending their oshi from the horrible.. other fans of that oshi who dare question anything at all she does. Sometimes the girl herself is at fault here by openly coaxing and siding with the yesmen etc, it depends. This allows the girl to get worse and worse and fewer and fewer people are actually having fun with the content, it's a net loss overall.

>b.)
The fans have a give-and-take and enjoy the girl when the times are good and exit quietly when they're not. Fans may or may not shitpost each other or the chuuba herself (nousagi are proud of being a nuisance to pekora) and it's all in good fun. Some of them are more hardcore and tolerant than the others but the fans aren't cannibalizing each other openly over it, for example I don't see the takos blaming each other much or trying to take each other down if they speak up about "boy ina has not been talking to us much.." they just stay quiet and leave the room (/wah/ is literally a dead ghost town now). I'm not saying takos are the be-all-end-all best fanbase (they're not, and I'm not a tako myself, it's just easy example because Ina's away), but I do think they're being sporting about being put through 2 months of nothing compared to Gura's 3 weeks. This again probably has to do with the girl, Ina herself never SC baits or tries too hard to cultivate mindless hypersimps, she's fine with the fans she has and happiest if she inspires them, and that's that.

My only interaction with Gura since the day she debuted was embarrassing myself on her Amongus stream. She doesn't know who I am and I dont care. I have a membership so I can support her and watch membership streams. Her streaming irregularly does not bother me. It's not what's most important to me. I think it is worth acknowledging that Ina also gave a far more comprehensive reason for her long absence, she even mentioned that it was very likely going to be next year until they saw her again.

If Gura ever gave us a explanation like that, three weeks of absence would not be an issue, but as she said tonight, she does not want to share any details with us. She also seemed to reveal that she was having problems in the first place by accident and quickly changed the subject.
I don't think it has anything to do with how much either girl baits SC (Gura never does this btw) or what kind of fanbase she cultivates, but rather how they communicate with their fans.

Your take is reasonable and I think we are mostly on the same page. I would prefer if we could reach a middle ground, but I think it's harder than it sounds. There will always be people who want more and never stop being selfish.
For example, if Gura would take time out of spending Thanksgiving with family to write us a message, most people would be happy with this. But then there will still be people upset that she won't stream. If they leave nasty comments, then now she is going to have a worse time when she returns to her family. It makes it very hard to separate work life balance but tell people they should still do some work.
Personally I need to separate work and life and maintain a healthy balance in my head or I have a really hard time with both. So I can support gura fully disconnecting. When I used to get stressed about work during all hours of every day, I got physically sick to the point of developing hives all over my body.

Yeah I was gonna expand a bit on the girl sometimes being at fault here but already had a long-ass post and didn't. Basically I was gonna highlight, Rushia literally played blatant favorites and sent private videos to her top donors. She would try to remember your name, look you up and badger you if she saw you donating to other girls, etc. Thus you had a bunch of people sticking with her even with the literal worst imaginable yab happening to her. IMO that isn't fandeads being strong, it's their being weak, defeated, controlled by her beyond reason.

We don't quite have one like that in EN and neither Gura or Ina are at all like this, but it's not at all impossible there will be one eventually.

I feel like Ina is at like, past the halfway mark in odds of graduating, but isn't herself super-sure yet.

I think the reason she's being so dead right now is it's a test run to see for herself how it feels and if Holo fans themselves react a lot to it. If she thinks she won't be missed and the coast is clear and she can get on with her life as it was pre-holo, she's probably a lot more likely to do it IMO than if she was strongly reached for by not just the fans but the other girls, IMO. The other Myths are probably more able to save inners than we are. The question is, do they even want to, can they etc.

Everyone is different when it comes to things like work life balance on their emotional well being and how often and severely they feel a need to disconnect. But I think it's important to realize that it may not even be about how she feels about her job itself. I disconnect from my job and I don't hate my job or the people I work with. I just get stressed when I think about work when it's not work time. Some days it takes more effort than others, but I mentally clock out at 5pm. I've been working for about 20 years now (mid 30s). It doesn't mean that she doesn't care about gura, or that she doesn't care about her job, or doesn't care about her fans. To me it means that it's stressful for her to think about work obligations, when it's not time to work. It's probably a hard thing to sell to some fans, but this is how we as fans can hopefully get her to continue to grow her love her job. I truly believe she loves Hololive and loves being part of Hololive.

I agree that her sharing it even accidently suggests it really is playing a role in all the issues she is having, it is frustrating that she went halfway letting us in then decided to keep it to herself after all but I can appreciate why she did.
I am just going to sleep and stop thinking about this for tonight.

I'm following a whole range of chuubas of different streaming styles, different niches, on both JP and EN side (more JP honestly), and I enjoy watching chuubas every day.
