I've been waiting for a band gen for years. I know most people here don't give a fuck about the Stars, but during the 2nd Act the hypest moment for me was when Gen 1 actually played real instruments live and I hope to see more stuff like that in the future. Luna's electone streams and Sora's keyboard stream are also really fun, but other than them and Mio, Gura and Watson with the ukelele there's not a lot of Hololive members who play instruments unfortunately, and realistically only Luna is pushing hard to have the instrument be part of her identity, so a band gen would probably be the most interesting thing Cover and almost all vtuber agencies could put up.

Gen-based lore is stifling. They should be given freedom to expand their own lore. Don't let Omega make the lore for them. They're not empty Manga characters, they're Vtubers. Look at Gura, Marine and Moona, i like how they tie their lore with their original songs. A basic generic schoolgirl is alright too, it's the most versatile character since she could become the MC if she's as popular as Gura, it's better than having a designated gen leader. Holo gen leaders are usually flops ( Ame, Bae, Laplus and Regis ). I still wonder to this day why nobody in Cover could predict that Gura will be the de facto leader of Myth and not Ame.

Unless Cover was ready to debut a new gen last month Illuna's under performance was never a source of concern for them when it's clear that the EN side dedicated most of their attention to Tempus this year. And even if that was what actually happened it means that Cover had 5 girls on deck and already commissioned 5 fully rigged models and just because Niji debuted a gen full of low quality performers they decided to cancel the whole thing and possibly release those girl that they already invested money into, which is absurd to even think about.

While I think the talents should have more input in their initial models to offset the possibility of them wanting a redesign in the future it's still better for Cover to have a general theme so the gen would be cohesive and not look like a D&D party made of character that look like they came from 7 different genres of fiction. Not to mention how long it would take to have all 5 designs ready and rigged in a timely manner with the possible constant back and forth they would have with their mamas/papas.

And since Cover already puts out new gens really far apart from one another they could be using that time to prepare the models. Just hold auditions immediately after a new gen debuts and use the 1+ year until the next debut to work on the models.
